Hi there folks. At this point, I'm not exactly sure what's going on in the
case -- I know where I want to go, but I'm having some trouble figuring out
how to get there. So I'll give you some idea of the direction I'm heading
and maybe you can help me out.

First off, Rand, it's up to you whether Void's contacts can get a copy of
the file or not. At this point, it isn't crucial -- if they can't, I'll just
make a run on the Star database.

The antagonist in this story is an enemy from the group's past;
specifically, an evil free spirit that Chance & Comapny thwarted years ago.
This Shadow posessed Widow for a brief period of time, and was exorcised by
Blaze (the team's Raccoon shaman), who was aided by several other magical
folk.

The spirit spent a great deal of time after the exorcism regaining its
strength, and only recently returned to Seattle to gain vengeance on the
team that screwed up its plans. The Shadow currently is going by the name of
Stygian, and has been monitoring Chance, Widow, and Sarah for several months
now. When the opportunity presented itself, it arranged for Sarah's
abduction. The child is currently only a means to an end -- it will likely
bring the team back together.

It is at this point that I am kind of stumped. Where should things go from
here? I can fill in other details on the backstory if necessary, but I'm
looking for some ideas about where things should go next.

Thanks in advance.

Freaking machine...*mutter, mutter, grumble*

Let's try that again.

Okay. Contact one is Julianne Hart, who belongs to
Paul, so it's up to him whether she can get a copy or
not. If Paul says no, Casey will be able to, though.

Okay, Josh, here's the 64k question. Sarah's abduction
is a means to an end...but WHAT end? Revenge? Okay,
then what form does Stygian expect his revenge to
take? Killing Sarah? Capturing Chance and/or Widow
and/or whoever? Killing them? Maiming, torturing,
possessing them? Or something else?

Figure that out and you'll be able to figure out what
Stygian has to do next to forward his plans. Once you
have that, you have the next move. Right now, Stygian
is in control - all Coyote and Co. can do is search
for clues and react to Stygian's actions.

Hope that helps.

Rita & Co. are just interested parties, that'll gladly lend a hand with Sarah if
asked. We aren't really bringing anything to the table, per say. But if any
leads turn up...

If you're stuck. Look at the Bad Guys(tm) motives. Why did they kidnap Sarah?
What were they hoping to get out of it? If all they wanted was simple revence,
a messy daylight assassination of her would probably have been more efeective.
So they obviously hope to gain something from her.

Hmm... I've been giving it some thought over the past couple of days, and I
think that rather than kill them outright, Stygian would like them to
suffer -- indeed, having a rather wide ironic streak myself, I think Stygian
might try to manipulate them into doing something really bad.

Six years ago they prevented the release of a genetically engineered virus
that would have caused no end of trouble for the 'plex. I'm thinking that
perhaps Stygian might try and manipulate them into causing some sort of mass
health risk or something.

Another thought I had was that Stygian, as a free spirit with the ability to
possess metahumans, might take control of Sarah in order to get on the
inside, so to speak. But I'm not really sure how much influence a
four-and-a-half year old would have on the situation, so I'm kind of holding
that in reserve. If she were a little older, perhaps, but it just doesn't
fit right now.

So... any ideas? I certainly welcome input. I have to admit I'm a little out
of practice in developing stories for the SR world.
