Or to follow the standardly ignored FAQ all encrypted messages should appear
as following:

Hey, maybe I should get around to writing up an FAQ insert for Encryptions!

Well, the FAQ does mention Encrypts, but, of course, nobody follows
instructions anyways.

Nobody follows instructions because nobody enforces the rules :)

Ahh, but retributory enforcement is not a cure for social ills. (shades
of my old law classes creeping back in, scarey).

Don't forget, you can all send nasty grams to violators too, I'm not the
only one here....

So where is the Encryption Arguement at, at this moment?

Rob - what are you going to change in the FAQ about encryption

I personally agree with he standing of

1. a little too much use of encryptions is going on

2. Encrytions are good devices to use as behind-the-scenes looks
at what is happening
on this point - lets face is, we have to allow some poetic license
and unreality to this list so that it works.

3. Encryptions schemes needed to be changed every so often -

Another point that needs to be addressed is Time/Date Stamps

yes I know that people LOVE to change their time/date stamp. I fact - having
people with little computer expertise have a changed one is ok with me as long
they had a REALLY GOOD DECKER change it. Changing T/D stamps is not THAT
easy.

My biggest peave though is CONSTANT T/D stamp changing - come on folks if you
change it with every posting the phone company WILL notice!!! Lets get some
moderation on this and try to keep T/D stamps fairly constant, ok?

Look at my characters Spirit and Circuit Breaker - both of them have been
decking on the HEAVY shadowrun level for 5+ years (they have both been involved
with the matrix for longer than this), and as such I believe they are capable of
changing their T/D stamps. Spirit has been continually using <of the Matrix>
for atleast 6 months now, and shows no signs of changing it. Circuit Breaker
has used various T/D for the past 6 months, BUT they have all stayed for a
"decent" amount of time. Last year, (spring 93) I did use the T/D stamp as
just a comments box - thats wrong. Instead, give your Decker more personality
by keeping the same stamp (like Smiling Bandit does).

The encryptions are BASICALLY as follows
(In my opinion as the Logs editor (ie - I paid attention to this when
we discussed it.))

NOT TO: [person or group-file]
Dis-allows access to these people (use sparingly since this is rather easy
to circumvent

PRIVATE: [person or group-file]
Encypted Mail routed through ShadowLand (safer - sort of) or
Through normal mail (not as safe sometimes)

Internal: [Company Stuff]
Internal Corporate Mail that we post to ShadowTk as an Aside.
It NEVER goes through Shadowland and NEVER leaves the internal
corperate system (systems are rather nebulous since it is possible
for Shadowland servers and a corp system to exist on the same computer)
