Well, since people are complaining about a lack of FAQs I've reposted
them.

What frequency of posting should we look for? Monthly? Every fortnight?
Weekly?

Monthly would be good. But I still say it's a waste of time sending them to
PlotD.

I'd wager that a monthly posting would be appropriate, unless and until
Clueless Newbies(tm) begin making a regular and annoying appearance.

Isn't that totally subjective? <g>

What is a newbie? An old-timer wouldn't necessarily use the
conventional definition.

What is a regular appearance? Seems one transgression by a new
person has a segment of the list foaming at the mouth. <grin>

What is annoying? He who breaks the rules in ignorance, or he who
knows the rules and breaks them anyway because he feels he is right
and the rest of the list be damned. I personally find it much more
the latter, because I had it happen to me here on the list. (Didn't
help any that I had a close friend of mine die to leukemia at the
same time either.)

Not really.

First-time posters or, IMHO, anyone who's been on the list for less than
a month.

Actually, it was 5 transgressions in one post, which is why some are
"foaming at the mouth".

Annoying is as annoying does. Anyone who joins a mailing list,
especially a list of the type that ShadowTK is, should have the common
sense to look around for about 10 minutes and see what the formatting is.
I have a feeling that this kid was lurking. He also quoted a reply,
which, while also being a no-no, means he had an example of perfect
formatting right before his eyes, and didn't use it. Anyone who doesn't
have a small dose of common sense or some knowledge of "netiquette" can
be exceptionally annoying. Someone who knows the rules and breaks them
purposefully is the type of person that I drop to twit access on BBS's
and ban-kick on IRC. As the law books say, ignorance is no excuse.

Judging by the time of year (the month of the clueless newbies), I think
weekly until the end of october....

Or even worse, anyone who's never used e-mail before.
(And being september, a whole mob of these are going to be hitting usenet
and mailing lists in the next coupla months...)

Continuing playing the very cheap devil's advocate, as soon as you
say IMHO, it is subjective. *grin* For the record, I do not
completely disagree with the above statement, although I think the
amount of time is variable depending on a person's actions.
