I was under the impression that s-land involves typed messages. Am I wrong,
and if so how many others made the same error?

As far as I knew, it could be either. Let's face it, voice
recognition word processors already exist today. Typically, most
characters type it.

If I post with Doomsday again, he would be my exception to the typing
bit. (Blitzkrieg and Shadowfox came to the conclusion that it would
be too painful to wait around for Doomsday to type in his whole
messages. *cackle* Shows what good friends are for.)

In the SR world in 2058, probably more people use datajacks or voice
recognition systems or handwriting recognition systems (especially for
languages like Chinese) than type on keyboards.

Yeah, I'd have to agree, the 'jack or recognition software might not
clean up the language either. I mean, hell, our word processors have
functions that check my grammar, but that doesn't mean I use it (too
painful). Besides, I type the way I talk anyway.

Hey, just because he never finished grade school, doesn't mean he is
completely without simple talents. (One of the many things that
Blitzkrieg and Shadowfox tried teaching him -- they got to a certain
point and gave up due to frustration.)

That was mostly Gunner's idea, and Wrecker trying to actually teach
Doomsday. Amazingly enough, Doomsday actually did learn to drive.
Just don't ask him to do stunts.

An ork decker called Troglobyte tries to track down the icon and toast the
deck of this Abraham guy... and he keeps doing it til he finds the fragger.
He's got a lot of spare time right now.

Nope.

So I coped my way :)

Abraham is indeed receiving a subpoena. This could get very nasty: he
just accused Lynch of murder, terrorism, and probably jaywalking as
well, on live broadcast trideo, and Coppinger is _pissed_.

Not so much at the exposure, though he's far from ecstatic at that: he
wants to protect his agents from this sort of false accusation.

I don't know how much of that is going to take place on SLand, but
Abraham is indeed going to have to show that he had reasonable cause for
his remarks in court, and if he can't then he's going to get hit for
hefty damages.

And Shadowland traffic is most unlikely to be admissible evidence in
court, while Abraham's trideo broadcast certainly is.

You want to play in the light, better be sure you stick to the rules :)

Sorry... got carried away by a sudden inspiration. I liked your reply
to it... hope it didn't annoy you too much (hm - as I haven't found
any angry replies in my private mail, I hope not :-)

No, not directly. See below for what I think of it...

Abraham Smith
A tall, slender man in his late fourties with completly white hair. He
wears an expensive suit. He is is spokesman of the People's League.

He's owner of "Clean Sweep", a medium corporation doing office
cleaning and the like. If traced it is obvious that Abraham connects to
Shadowland with the help of a decker he employees. What a cleaning
corporation needs a decker for? *whistle innocent GM tune*

The decker goes by the handle of Wipe-Out and also covers Abraham from
traces (a good decker could penetrate his cover, as Wipe-Out isn't that
good) and will defend A.'s matrix icon from attacks (at least long
enough for A. to flee the battle). W-O's real name is Frank Kahle,
although this should be quite hidden and only obvious after severe
background search.

A. will employee a bodyguard after Lynch's threat. Again, the
bodyguard will not be too good, but should be good enough to defend A.
against "amateurs".

As for the charge of diffamation (sp?): I suppose this will go to
court, and strech quite long, with the backing of the PL. The PL will
use this proceeding (word?) as a forum to get publicity. In the end
(<-a long way off, I think) I suppose A. Smith will face a financial
punishment (again my English fails me for right terms, sorry). Any
other opinions?

Any further info needed?
Sascha

Troglobyte, the decker I mentioned earlier, could well be described as a
good decker. He's one of those cliched guys who have some debilitating
condition (CYstic Fibrosis in his case), so all they can do is deck. Based
in San Francisco, he'll be coming after Abraham at any opportunity,
probably keeping his bigoted crap out of Shadowland.

Nah, I liked it, it was good stuff and quite appropriate too.

Nope. Abraham will, eventually, have to pay moderately painful damages
and make a public apology and retraction, months later when everyone's
forgotten. May or may not make Shadowland, or even the news. (Probably
won't, we'll all have forgotten by then :) )

>Any further info needed?

Not from me, unless Abraham is carrying on his postings: probably
already discovered it's drawing unwelcome heat, though.
