The formatting errors are starting to pile up, folx.

Dunno if the Dread Executors are going to want to fire off the
semi-annual edition of the FAQ, but it might be a help to remind people
how to keep their posting within bounds.

As a side-bar, does anybody know when Pete (a.k.a. Dark Avenger) is
going to have the Newcommer's Guide to ShadowTk back up, if at all? I
can only find an abreviated mirror at Sacha's site:

www.informatik.uni-oldenburg.de/~jhary/Shadowrun/if_html/newcomer.html

The links to the list on that version are out of date (point to
itribe.com, not jackpoint.org), but other than that, the advice and
suggestions contained therein are still worth reading if you haven't
seen them yet (although I personally could nit-pick a few of them).

The site is absolutely un-maintained for ... uh... well, a LONG time. Maybe
I'll work there eventually again as soon as I manage to steal myself some
time... :-)

So go, nit-pick away, maybe you actualle NICE the task high enough in
my conscious to get me working :-)

Heh...well, I hate to create excess work for anybody. They are mostly
little things, like the description--probably taken from an early
version of the FAQ--that all the messages the pass through ShadowTk (the
main, open board) are done by deckers. That's not *exactly* true. No
doubt a considerable number of people who post to the board are deckers,
and little doubt that the others who post to the board are assisted by
deckers so that they can get into ShadowLand in the first place.
However, it isn't that they are typically typing up the other characters
messages. More like maintaining access to the other character's
Shadowland accounts. Joe Street-Sam or Jane Mage aren't really supposed
to have the matrix-savy to get past all the typical protections/
encryptions that (are at least _supposed to_ <<mutters under breath>>)
keep members of the non-Shadow community off the board, which is why
they know, employ, or get chummy with a decker who can do it for them.

Back to the topic at hand, though, I think I/we already discussed a
number of those sorts of things before with Pete and he fixed them in
the later revisions of the Newcomer's Guide. Which leads back to the
pondering if anybody had been in touch with him lately, and if he was
interested in putting it back online somewhere.

I haven't heard hide nor hair from Pete in about two months, and before
that I was conversing on a very regular basis with him. He dropped off the
face of the planet, got back in touch with one email, and dropped off again.
