Hey,

Did a bunch of you just get spammed by someone with an email address of
coolio@*******.com?

The email started with this....

<<Hello,

I have a document that can place you in the top 10 listings of the
search engines. This document will show you the tricks of the trade .
How would like to have more traffic to your web site? Well here is the
answer to that question.

Simply fill out the form below and mail it in to me along with .00 US
CASH and I will e-mail the files to you.>>

I looked through some of the email names that this was sent to and a few
of them are on the list, Sashca, Jaimie and maybe a few others.

I hope this was not sent out by anyone on ST or Plot-D. I really hate
spam mail like this.

Yup, someone's harvesting names from mailing lists, probably. I just sent
the standard complaint to hypermart.net. It didn't even look like a
very good spammer.

But they got around the no spam policy of the list by sending it to us all
directly, rather than via plotd or something similar. Kind of a bummer.
It could have been fun trying to suck the $1000 dollars out of the spammer.

I know it was from me, and yes, I did get it. What struck me as odd was the
"target web site" was my "home page" and not "Hacker House",
which is where
the most work has gone into for us.

I think someone went skipping across the "TK" list, as most of the names I
have cross referenced to there, but not -quite- all, I don't think.

Yep, I got one too, it was rejected as is all spam. Seems that somebody
has figured out it's possible to get list member addresses by polling
the server. Ho hum.
