I'm starting to dwell (as usual) on possible future story line. I
was thinking Atlanta might be cool for one of them. (Sorry Brad, I
still cannot bring myself to use Seattle. *grin* Actually, that's
not _quite_ true. Interested in causing some trouble? I'll e-mail
your NW account with what I have in mind.) What's FASA's take on
Atlanta?

Mike,

Not a problem. E-mail me. I'd always interested in causing
trouble...after all, I am at Microsoft.

Brad

Well, the best source for that is the NAGNA, but since few people
have access to that, I'll try to compile a short summary and post it
tomorrow.

Well... I have that one. Of course that is six years old. I guess I
was wondering if there has been significant changes in Atlanta since
then. (Let me ask this as well, does anyone have a problem if I use
White Wolf's Necropolis: Atlanta as a supplement for solely more
color?)

I'll detail more when I have an idea of what I want to try. Right
now it is only a very loose idea and more needs to be worked out.

Mike

Depends on what parts of it you use for color, I guess. Names of places,
locations, and decors, fine by me. The fact that every third person is
some sort of Vampire, Werewolf, or other beasty, I'd say no. Mages, of
course are okay, but in reasonable numbers. =) Anything in particular you
had in mind?

No. I'm still formulating the idea.

(World of Darkness side-note): Atlanta is pretty much Vampire and
Wraith (err ghost) territory, which if you think of Georgia actually
makes a lot of sense to me. Between the Civil War (for ghosts) and
the aristocracy (for vampires) it makes a lot of sense. I'm sure
they're are shapechangers, mages, and changelings there as well, but
not nearly in the same numbers as the other two.

Back to s-talk....

I was thinking of either "a ghost story" or "a ghost and a vampire
story" that involves Death and his crew. I'm leaning toward the
ghost story right now. Other than this fragment of idea, I haven't
come up with anything specific: Ghost + Death (and crew) + Atlanta =
fun. I was thinking of using the Necropolis: Atlanta, as mostly
scenic atmosphere. If I put in a vampire there would be only one.
Same with a ghost. There may be more in Atlanta, but that is outside
the scope of the story.

The more I think about it, the more I think it is just going to be
ghost story. While I think vampires are an interesting plot
development, I think they have been done to death on the list.

I was planning on using names of places, locations, and decors mostly
from a combination of the FASA supplement that has Atlanta in it, and
Necropolis: Atlanta (since White Wolf does their homework even better
than FASA tends to). Other than that, *shrug* Obviously, I have a
lot more groundwork to do before I begin that story. Which is okay,
because Death and crew are still in Europe anyway.

(Sadly enough, if I was being true to my characters, I should have about 6
stories going right now. *shudder*)

Mike

I'm currently working on a Garou History of the Future. Timeline,
some important characters etc... I've always felt that the World of
Darkness and Shadowrun would mix rather well, and working on this
project has just served to strengthen that belief. I've designed it
as a kind of rant, so anyone who doesn't like the idea, ignore it,
just as you would any stupid shadow-comment.
Should be finished by the end of the week, and can be found on my

Back to the original topic on Atlanta. I had a chance on Sunday
night to skim the WW's Necropolis: Atlanta and the Neo-Anarchists
Guide to North America's section on Atlanta.

A question came to mind. Turner. Six years ago, they put out the
supplement, and say that it was it has combined with a Japanese
company (whose name I've already forgotten even though its in the
title of the resulting company) (I don't have the book here at
work.) Since FASA put it out in print, Time-Warner has acquired
Turner.

1) What is Time-Warner's presence in Shadowrun?
2) Would they still have a controlling interest in Turner's empire?

(I'm making sure I cover all my bases when I do this Atlanta part of
the Death saga.)

I think that unless Time Warner was in a significant crisis, that
they would not be foolish enough to give up Turner's empire.
