Ok, as I said, I would go into detail about Haven in another post, and I
am doing so here.

My ultimate reason for the Veirtes Reich gangers/German runners is to
foment violence to cover up some other stuff I'm doing. What I'd like to
do is have them get into a gang war, and get killed in the process,
around Haven. This would be partly the cause of the wraith, but also
because it will happen at the same time as a run that it needs to
distract the cops and corps from seeing until it's too late. Gang wars
are relatively common, but after the problems with the background count,
I thought it better to mention it.

And Dan, as you are the only person who know's my plans regarding my
current major plotline(Maxim), I'll trust you to decide whether you feel
it is enough of a world-changer to open it up her eon Plot-D.

You new folks can't know this, but there was a time when Plot-D didn't
exist. I can see the overall quality of the plots and writing has gone
up, but I can't help wonder if we've lost some of the creativity and
synchronicity we had in the beginning. I wonder if the Omega Island
stuff would have ever happened if Vinnie had had to consult Plot-D first....

I guess this is part of why I have a habit of not asking permission
except in extreme cases.

But don't mind me. I'm just an oldtimer(one of the oldest, but not THE
oldest. Does that go to you, Dan? **evil grin**) reminiscing about the
"good ol' days" and waxing philosophical.

Ok - Brian's plot

Will it change the world and make it different if a new person comes aboard
(after the plot) - NO.

Will it have effects during the plot line that will cause some people to
complain. YES - hell If I didn't know what all (mostly - sort of) was going
on - I would be rather tentative.

If the plot was modified away from its current completion to something a little
less exceptable - would it still be something to worry about a newbie getting
confused and disheartened over. NO --- If it was changed to the less exceptable
conclusion - it would still not be majorly important (well depending on how the
conclusion concluded)

BUT - Brian - I REALLY wouldn't suggest changing the conclusion you told me -
its the conclusion that works better in the long run - and it won't irk as many
people. Remeber - its ok to get them a little worried in the begining - thats
what a good villian is for - but they really don't want the villian to win.
Now - if we only could figure out how to do an ending like Carl Sargent

PS. Is Carl Sargent staying as the head of Shadowrun?
I have even rearanged my opinion of him - I used to be wary of
him being DLOH because of Tir Na Munchkin - but
after reading Nosferatu - I have to say that he is an evil
bastard - ie - the perfect person to head up cyberpunk type
game.

The enemy is defeated. The good guys saved the day.
So how come they lost? :)

Actually, I have every intention of having it end as I have told you.
The only way it wouldn't is if the people here decided it was too risky
and didn't want to put their characters in harm's way.

And thanks for not bringing up specifics at this stage. That will become
clear once the next two runs are complete. And if this set doesn't make
people upset enough to knock on Maxim's door, then I have another set all
ready to up the ante some.....

**grin**

*knock*
*knock*
**baBOOOOM**

heck with knocking we'll just knock it down :)

if you let me get away with it - I have been thinking up of a few things for
Maxim.

We'll see.....

Oh, by the way, to all the deckers out there: I used to have Maxim's
Matrix REALLY hard to run, a veritable glacier and up there with Fuchi
for overall difficulty. Since Solitaire's demise, this has gone down
everywhere except for three locations: Thier orbital facility(big
surprise...), their research labs(there is only 2 locations on this one
here, and again, not a big surprise) and their corporate HQ in Boulder/
FRFZ. Everywhere else has fallen a lot. None of it's easy, and while I
don't really want people doing a hell of a lot of nasty stuff to Maxim
without clearing it with me first, little BS is no big deal and big BS is
actually atainable now, direct from the source.

Oh, just so you know what one of my ultimate goals for Maxim was/is. Up
until Maxim came around, it seemed that all the corps were was a source
of money that you could frag with whenever a character wanted to. This
isn't the way that SR works in general, at least not in my world. And
since I couldn't exactly run Renraku or someone like that, Maxim became a
way for me to bring back the fear of the corps that we all seem to have
lost for so long. Regardless of how powerful we feel we are, all of our
characters should not be considered above even the ability of the corps
to squash, and it seemed to me that most of our characters do fit that
mode. I hate to say it, but you can't go and romp into, say, Ares and
steal stuff of value and not expect them to not care. If your run is
minor, the corps will write it off as a minor loss too expensive to
alleviate and repair. But if you cause them real harm, you will get
squashed. And that just never seems to happen here, or at least so
rarely that it's nearly a non-event(ewww....thinking in statistics
again. Ick).

Thus Maxim exists. I'm not abhorrent to taking Maxim down a notch or two
if people come up with cool ways to do it. But part of what makes this
list Cyberpunk is the overwhelming presence of corps, and Maxim is here
to make sure that presence is felt a little bit more often....

Besides, I enjoy being evil from time to time. **grin**

Now all I have to do is come up with a couple of character development
runs for when this one is done.....
