Argh... Not that I don't think that this was a good bit of writing, but
weren't we just discussing what sourcebooks were in use? I guess the
question is then, since I would hate to have to retcon the ODIN stuff out,
when do we want to say Target: UCAS becomes fair game and the Containment
Zone goes down? Which is, of course, not to say that Chicago won't have
problems for quite a while after, nor will it look much better than Beirut
for even longer. But there won't be any large openly-active hives running
around in the streets anymore.

Around a month ago, I was helping Matb on a story where he wanted his
character to visit the newly-opened and still war-torn Chicago area. With
the list already discussing Target: UCAS and all, we figured that it had
gained sufficient dissemination and acceptance to be accepted in the game
world. Hense, the most recent post by NewzJunkie (also a prod in Matb's
direction to get back to me on what's going on). But if we want to say
the CZ is still up, then that changes things considerably.

I'd like to settle this by consensus some time soon so that the various
groups who have business in or around Chicago can be sure to have their
worldviews match. Technically, FASA has Chaptain Chaos posting the State
of the Union address April 5th, claiming that the UCAS military and Ares
had cleared out Chicago and were dropping the Zone, but the date of the
actually completion of the mission is not exacly set in stone for the
ShadowTk world.

The Zone's been down since early April or before. I can understand ppl
wanting to wait on sourcebooks, but that little fact has been at the FASA
site for months.

If shadowtk is going to stay canon, we need to stick to canon dates. If it
messes with your plot, well, then you have to adapt.

Target: UCAS is fair game.

I still think we need to give the sourcebooks a chance to
propagate. There's been plenty of time for that at this point,
though (even though I _still_ haven't been able to lay hands
on one personally... <grin>).

Last time I talked to Mike Mulvhill (Monday or Tuesday of this week) he
said that he was going to have a Manuscript version of RBB2 ready to show
off at Gen Con. The official release date is September, and RBB2 is one of
Mike's pet projects, since he really loves riggers, so I expect to see it
mid to late september...

I got the impression that the "ODIN" posts were old records from before it
was all dealt with.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this ODIN stuff could be fitted neatly
in, even IF UCAS is being used.

All you have to do is say that the recordings were made up to 3 or 4 months
ago, which is actually about right, I think.....

As I'll get my Target:UCAS tomorrow (I hope), and it reached my
hometown yesterday, I had no chance to scan it yet.

As the plot was planned and worked on for quite a while (much longer
then planned, but RL got messy and delayed my work on it) I supposed
it would be better to use old (up to 5 1/2 months) recordings. As I
had no idea the CZ is to have gone down (uh... I admit I have problems
with the tempus here :-) in April, there are/might be problems with
the timeline - that's the problem when we are suddenly offered dates
and events some months back.

Great - so I have to watch Web Servers, too? Sorry, I thought only
sourcebooks were to be considered?

although I don't quote you :-)

It arrived in Germany this week. Well, at least in my hometown. Check
at the game store next week... :-)

Well... It was really a preview of T:U, the State of teh Union Address
from the book dated April 1.

<shrug>

I don't think preview info from FASA's page should count as canon for TK
until the Sourcebook is actually out...

It has, Pete's got a copy. Haven't been able to track down one myself
yet, though.

OK,
I received my copy of Target: UCAS last midnight, and of course checked
the Chicago Section. Um... T:U, p. 70: "22 February 2058". Oh well -
now can please someone tell me how one should/could have planned _that_
timespan?

So how can one plan with material thus far back-dated? And thus
world-changing?

Ummm, simple... We just move FASA's date up for this particular game forum
in this instance. As GM's, we do this a lot anyways... Especially when
products come out and the events took place several months earlier...

Can we, as a list, maybe assume the date a July 22 instead of February? Or
maybe June... Eiether way...:]
