For anyone who checks... enquiries reveal that Suden Seen Gewerbeusch
GmBH checks out as a smallish tramp line, owning a single ship (the MV
_Legitimate Business Practice_) which is a 35,000-ton dwt LASH carrier.

They've been in business for about five years, as far as can be told:
their public record goes back to 2057, and while they seem to be
distinctly shady they've also got a good record for repaying loans and
honouring dividends and bond issues on similarly favourable terms to
those offered here.

Anyone who wants to *really* dig, let me know.

Oh, Dawn Treader has a few contacts who'll *really* be digging, you can
count on that. What do we find? :)

Suden Seen Gewerbeusch GmBH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rodriguez
Shipping PLC, a London-based freight company whose sole proprietor is
Baroness Glamis, the Lady Susan E. Rodriguez KT DSC.

It seems SSG GmBH is a deniable front end used for high-value high-
profit high-risk runs by Rodriguez Shipping.

On close investigation it turns out they regularly (every three to five
months) raise several million in capital (on junk bonds or nonvoting
stock) at a remarkably good promised rate of return. So far, they've
always paid up as promised.

There are regular and frequent allegations that SSG GmBH are involved in
major-league gunrunning to Third World hellhole warzones, but nobody's
ever brought charges let alone made them stick. It would explain how
they can afford to pay 25% on a one-year bond, if they're raising
capital to buy a cargo.

On further close investigation... there is no voting stock for any
subsidiary of Rodriguez Shipping in circulation. It exists, but it's all
held by three corporate bodies: by Rodriguez Shipping, by Rusanov's
Rebels Incorporated, and by the Trevilla Foundation.

Nonvoting stock exists, is freely traded, and while the dividends are
not generous they've been regularly paid: but while there's an apparent
bid price for the voting stock, there is none available for sale.

Btw, if you're wondering, an "eye-boggling" sum is a sum that's both
eye-popping and mind-boggling. ;)

I guess that's better than mind-popping. ;-)
