Normally I don't ask, but I think this might be wise given current
tides....

Anyone have objection if I have Nightmare offer up a government black
op to take out (or over depends on what the runners find) an oil rig
in the North Sea? (Paul, this might cause a small wrench in
Shadowfox's plans if the list says it is okay.) It's Britain that
made the request of Nightmare and he is making German officials
unofficially aware that it is happening (but not enough details to
let them interfere).

I don't have any problems with it, and I have just the team to pull it
off. :-)

Right, well reading your last message makes me thing you have already
decided to go ahead with it. My only curiosity was whether you were
actually going to call it a governmental covert op or not. Most people on
a Shadowland node would--or at least should--react quite negatively to a
government soliciting an operation from Shadowrunners. This would tend to
indicate that the mission was considered too dangerous/difficult/
undeniable that they couldn't do it with their own copious assets, and
would tend to indicate the run was not the wisest choice of avaliable work
around. Since you seem to already have the runners in mind that you are
going to use, and handled it in a way that addressed my concern, I'll let
it go at that.

I agree that most shadowrunners would not jump into a government run
without trepidation. However, I also think that the government would
probably do everything through a middleman contact who could take the
fall if all hell breaks loose. The runners should never know they are
working for the government. Otherwise, who cares where the money comes
from...as long as it's "clean", I don't care.

If it is a government operation, Nightmare isn't saying. Based on
the fact that he hired Shadowfox to get the runners it means that he
doesn't want to tarnish the run with his current position. It also
means (at least to Shadowfox) that Nightmare would have done the job
if he was allowed. That is enough reassurance from Shadowfox to take
the job. He is assuming that if Nightmare thought it was hopeless,
he wouldn't send a friend in.

Now, keep in mind it is Shadowfox hiring to the public. He isn't the
type of person who would hire people for a suicide run. It may not
be easy, but not suicide. All in all, an interesting employment
opportunity especially since his public turning down of Nightmare.

(All in all, I'm hoping the total story time only takes a week to a
week and a half.)

[As a side note, I apologize that I didn't give plot-d longer to
speak on the whole note. I kind of got taken with the idea and
Mark's feedback convinced me the rest of the way that raiding one oil
rig is not world shaking in and of itself. It will certainly make
news, but the world will not end and life will pretty much continue
as before. Perhaps a small raise in oil price....]

Greetings.

I have a murder going down in San Fransico. It involves the death of
what would have been an up and coming porn star. (At this point, the
"lucky lady" has a cult following but nothing more.)

Question is, would anybody's characters normally comment (on s-land) on
the death? If not, I'll invent a character to bring it to the list.

Later,
Mike
