As a fellow newbie --- well, actually an re-newbie. I was on the list a few
years back-- I say this. Take your time. Find one plot that is not too
overwhelming (ie: the bug stuff. Neat, but a newbie probably won't fit w/o
major restructuring.) Ask the "players" on plotd if and what they could use.
If they bite, let them lead you for a bit. I think that it is hard to have
someone new enter when they no nothing of your style/experience. Right now,
many of the plots seem to be fairly large and have lots of background. The
illusion/rigger Stormwind plot may be a good place to start?

Second (The above was a long first) Only use one character. This way
everybody knows who you are. Also, concentrating on one character will alow
you to develop a personality and history. On this list that is more
important than stats.

Third, let the list know who your character is by using plotd. You don't
have to be specific, but a general idea will help.

Fourth (This one is totally my opinion, so it may be shot down) Your first
character should be "nice." Don't be too cocky or abraisive -- The less
characters that are offended, the more opportunities.

Fifth -- patience -- I've been on again for a few weeks and am not seriously
involved in a plotline. Just go with the flow.

Sixth -- I'll be starting a new thread soon and you are welcome to come along
for the ride (backseat driving is expected!)

To all the old timers, the reason I asked everyone to read this is that I
want to know if this is all crap or if it is good advice. It is what I''m
doing and I'll take advice too! Help us STk babies out!

Thanks and appologies for rambling,
Eric (Ashton / Stewart Thao)

P.S. I just realized that I broke my own rule # 2 -- oops

Hmmm...well at least on this single point I feel confident. I engineered my own
free-form game (anywhere from 5 to 25 active players at a given time) that ran for six
years successfully and another four on and off sporadically as we lost some of our
veterans. My characters are all tried and true, solid characters with concrete histories
and rich personalities that I sometimes feel I know better than my own.

As for everyone knowing who I am... (smile) Unfortunately I'm pretty outspoken
(abrasive?) I don't think anyone will have a problem connecting me with my characters
and screen name if and when I get a good start here.

What kind of information would ya'll like? I ask because I would like nothing more than
to deluge plot D in all the juicy details of my characters. (smirk) Physical? History?
Up to me?

(grin) Too late. I run six characters and my three favorites are currently present in
the SR list... one of 'em is nice... what do I win? (smile)

Mmm hmmm... not a chance...but perhaps I could fake it just a bit.

I would love to, but first I need to come to a decision on the other two plotlines I've
become embroiled in...whether or not they are too complicated for me to handle at this
juncture and whether or not a few select assholes will prevent me from wanting to
participate at all.

Eric/Stewart (grin) Thanks for the blow-by-blow... more of you folks around and the
world might actually be a nice place t'live. (winks)
