ShadowTalk nominations . . .

I can but request the pardons of the various participants upon this
list regarding the delay in the nominations. I have experienced very pressing
academic concerns of late (read: a truly prodigious term paper to complete,
'pon which a large section of my grade did depend) which has drawn much of my
attention away from the list. I apologize, but it was unavoidable.

The issue that we face is a simple one, but the utlimate choice is not easy.
I have approximately seven to ten days left to the school year for me, a fact
which holds true for many other members of the list, I should wager.

Given that limited time frame, the options are these:

1. Proceed with nominations and retain the results for voting later.

2. Proceed with nominations (for a few days) and then attempt a quick
vote in the time remaining.

3. Have a direct election . . . no nominations, merely the most votes
wins.

Although my Internet access shall cease on approximately May 13 (if not
slightly earlier), it shall resume around towards the end of this month, when
the Summer session at A&M initiates.

Thoughts/suggestions/observations?

Nomuniate now. Vote while you are gone (will you have valid mail?) and
then you tally when you get back?

yes - though allow those of us who are leaving soon to cast our votes.

maybe

nah

yes - just what are the catagories again and what are the time constraints?
We have about 10 new people this semester, 15 last semester, and many people
left from last year. In all, many people never saw the Monica or Omega island
saga's, they missed the most amusing CRUSH and Talky episodes. And none of the
new people know of Vinnie "Dark Elf" who was the main plotter back then (IMHO)
also - the list has changed since then - not as many parties.
Hey Doom - does this mean I'm getting old when I start reminiscing of the good
old days? I've done it twice today to the list

Let's see:
No, don't do the general voting, since you'll probably get lots of
different plots with a few votes, which will just complicate things.

No, don't do the hurry up approach; as you said, this is the end of the
school year, and whle I'm not in classes, I think others woun't be able
to devote enough time to the awards to make this one viable.

Yes, I like the idea of having the nominations, then wait for Doom
(or whoever to ) to tabulate them, then vote on the results. Only, make
the nomination period as long as feasibly possible, so those of us weith
bad memories can go through the logs and review the highlights.

As I shall be leaving on Saturday for a short stint at home previous
to the initiation of the Summer session here at A&M, and owing to a number of
pleas for extension regarding the nominations,

Nominations shall close on FRIDAY THE 13TH, at MIDNIGHT!

Meine Kameraden:

I have performed some preliminary tallying of the votes, in order
that I may ascertain whe'er or not there are any conclusive results. The
answer thus far is in the affirmative.

The question is now, do we permit the results -- whatever they may
be -- stand, or do we re-open voting?

As far as I'm concerned (and you are free to ignore me), post the
results, and let's get on with life :-)

Are you still going to do your flamboyant writeup like you promised?

If e we have enough votes, go ahead & tally. However, if we only have
the 7 votes that Doom mentioned, we should really wait for folks to
come back in the fall. IMHO.
