Does anyone know how to keep the first line of a paragraph, prior to a
carriage return, from repeating. Specifically how to keep this from
happening again, when I'm using my Eudora:

It's getting really annoying, and I suspect there's got to be a way to set
the system so it doesn't do this.

Yes, no, maybe?

Thanks.

Funny, I use Eudora and I never have this problem. Do you just have the
text wrap to the next line or do you carraige return? Hmmm. What are your
message with, message line, and tab stop set at?

I use Eudora too, and it automatically repeats certain characters at
the beginnings of line (TAB, >>>>>, etc.). The only way I've found
around it is to use a hard return after the offending line instead
of allowing it to word-wrap. You will notice the >>>>> sequence is
only on the first paragraph, and stops after you give a hard return.
If there is a way to just turn it off, I'd like to know about it,
it's rather inconvenient.

Okay, okay, I've let this go on long enough without saying anything. I
recommend Pronto or Pronto Secure from CommTouch. Pronto Secure (soon
to have S/MIME capabilities as I understand) has a great interface for
allowing PGP encryption. Obviously, for the encryption, you must be in
the U.S.

It has a great rules system for setting filters. And, it is visually
more appealing than Eudora or Eudora-lite.

If you are using Windows or Windows'95 check it out.

Hmmm, that's odd... i've also got Eudora (v 1.4.4) and it doesn't do
that... The only problem I run into is that if I tab or put any spaces into
my first line, it gets deleted when I send, but other than that, I've never
(that I know of) run into the probs that you guys are having...

Sorry, Brad, I'm on a Mac, albeit a PowerMac. Got anything I can use
(and get for free)?

I'm sure there are groups out there that give PC's to the less fortunate
people who use Apple hardware. **REALLY BIG GRIN**

Oops, that's flame bait if I've ever seen it. I withdraw the
statement. **GRIN** (Doesn't mean I didn't mean it, just that I
withdraw it. **BIGGER GRIN**)

No, Kevin, I don't know of anything for the Mac. Sorry.

I word-wrap, which is the problem. Guess I'll just have to get used to
carraige returning it all the time.

Hi my name's Jaimie, and I use Eudora <pause for a round of "Hi Jaimie,
we're here for you", etc>.
I find that it's easiest to type the message without using the return key,
let it do the text wrapping thing as usual, then put a hard return in when
I knock off the .sig inclusion tick (Eudora users should know what I mean,
I doubt different versions change that much). That way if you forget,
you've also forgotten your sig, so you were going to get thwapped anyway.
