In the last few days, shoot, the last few months, I have noticed that very
few people are timestamping their posts. They all seem to be coming up with
text instead of times (phrases, etc). I know this has been chewed over on
the list before, but people are still doing it.

Was there an administrative decision while I was "out". Is it okay to put
little text thingys where the timestamp should be? I thought only really
hot deckers could alter that.

Just an observation.

Well, there are _some_ questionable posts like that, but I
usually ignore it the first time through, and send the author
of the message a note if I notice unlikely T/D changes in
more than one post. I don't wanna be draconian about it,
so I make sure it wasn't just a fluke. :-)

That's still the case. Only hot deckers should be able to change
their T/D's, and even then, most don't bother with it.

The only reason I brought it up, was not to indict, or even incriminate
anyone. I sort of want to do it myself, but I have controlled my urge
because I didn't know. **GRIN**

If I didn't think I woyuld be a perpetrator in the future, I probably
wouldn't have brought it up. **BIG GRIN**

Also folks - try to keep the "special" t/d stamps special and characteristic
Don't just put any old thing down - make something short but sweet that fits the
character

for instances

-- Spirit <Of the Matrix>

-- Circuit Breaker <Southern Belle>

Spirit has been using that T/D for the past two years

CB has had hers for about 6 months after a stint of changing it once a month
for a year and a half until she found one that suited her (and me)

Remember - have reasons for when they do it - if they just blithely stick it the
end - they will looke like a fraggin dweeb - but if they have a cool consistant
tag - they will look cool.

Yes, its in the FAq. Use your TimeZone, or I think you can use GMT. *shrug*
I suggest using your own. Someone mentioned a perl script to do it for you.
If your using a unix type mail program.

mike.

..oh, has November's TK-CAST list been sent out?? Or don't they do that anymore?

I don't know if it is as koser by the rules, but I tend to modify the hour
of my time date stamps to reflect the sending location. (i.e. since most
of my posters are in the Pacific time zone, I have to wind back the clock
two hours since I post from Texas. Keeps the plot continuity a little
nicer. On the other hand posting from GMT is cool if you happen to have
postings come in from around the globe. I figure it would be up to the
individual.
