I got a question..I know we have Internal and >>encrypted<< and Private
etc..but how would I show like a matrix run, that is without posting it.
What I want to do is do like a matrix run to show that I actually did it
rather than just say "oh yeah...I did a search...". Just for some extra
detail. What should be the header..(ie. ***Private, internal) what? Or are
these things generally left alone?

Should I write something up or just say it was done?

Thanx.

Mike Loll.

I'd say write it up as a series of reports from the internal security of
the target ("Commander Bob, there's a decker at the main gate! Aieee!"), or
as some technical readouts by the IC (Intruder! Exterminate!).

I presume that you are asking in response to the rescue of Ronin request.
If so, you've probably got about a week before he dies. They (Renraku) have
to fly in a specialist to extract his muscle augmentation and various
beta-grade cybertoys, and he needs to be alive to prevent it from
decomposing with his corpse. He'll be heavily drugged though, so he can't
participate in any escape attempts.

OK... here's an immediate flash. I don't remember anything dealing with
Matrix recording in any of the SR texts/canon. However, with the ability
to record virtually everything else that occurs or corroborate it through
another character someway has to exist to deal with recounting Matrix runs.

Option A: Your deck has a microrecorder that visually stores everything
that happens to your persona while on a run. It can record up to 80 (??)
megapulses of footage and has to take up space in either headware memory or
the deck's storage. You can then transfer it to chip and play it for
all who you wish to see it (via simsense I would guess).

OR

Option B: Another decker character spotted you as you did the run and
followed out of curiosity... greed ... whatever. This spying decker then
relates the events as a matter of turning a profit, telling you to
be more careful, whatever whatever whatever. I've seen a version of this
in one of the SR Novels... can't remember which one (surprise.) .....
but there is precedent for it.

OR

Option C: The Corp you ran against has a matrix-recording program. For
security reasons. I'm hesitant about this one cuz it makes the world
of decking alot more dangerous when a corp can record your persona for
future reference (it fits well with my character, but ....) All they
have to do is some street level footwork to get your persona from
someone else and then they 'almost' have you. But it's a possibility for
recounting a Matrix run.

That's all I thought of off the top of my head. Maybe there is an SR
source that totally contradicts me, but whatever... I'm trying... :)
I also havent read any posts after this one so it's likely that I'm just
repeating other suggestions. Oh well, the results can't be much
worse than my initial character suggestion... right? ( i hope )

anyway
peace

This is whats normally done. But don't worry about space :)

Not as often

Actually - In VR-2.0 in dioes state that all traces of your icon are
eliminated when you leave. They really can't record the virtual stuff
virtually, they can log what registered icons are but not hacking ones.

(leaves you a bit safer)

Oh - USE *****Private for matrix posts if you want to post but not have
people know. (unless you are sending a report to your bosses in a corp
then you use internal only if you are doing over their systems totally -
otherwise use private.

Basically - wing it :)
