Well, off goes XLR8, tapping lines, listening in, sneaking about... what
does he hear?

A lot of useful-but-for-this-plot irrelevant stuff about local
shakedowns, who's doing what to whom and why, and other low-level Mob
trivia. (Now or later, have fun with that if you want- Cardone is only
important as far as the following)

And some to-and-fro about a 'Keenan' or 'K' and how he's still holding
out on the Lolita Scam, and whether it's better to expose him or keep
playing along in hopes that he'll see sense and pay. Seems a Mr Keenan
picked up a hooker who turned out to be significantly underage and is
now deciding whether exposure as a paedophile is worth the six-figure
blackmail demanded by Cardone's mob to hush the incident up.

Some of Cardone's people think they asked for too much, but the
consensus is that Keenan is working in the elite Fed facility in
Stovington and must be totally _loaded_ with disposable income.

Paul- about those missing messages, they were on this
topic(basically both The Crete and Flash have
confirmed their participation in the meeting) so if
the meeting happened they should have been in it
(please mail privately as to what happened there).

As someone who knows nothing about Stovington, neither then nor now,
<squeaky voice> help?

For example, are federal employees the only possible victims of any
crimes that the mob _or_ Soraya's racket might commit? Or only the most
numerous target group?

It's late, I'm tired. The last message was supposed to be from
NewzJunkie.
Quicksilver's never that flippant, so I hope the readers who don't get
this will figure it out anyway.

The checks Archangel is making on the 'runners are basic rep checks, the
sort that etiquette allows, he's not covering his tracks with those except
to make it appear that he dialled up from a physical location inside
Seattle.
The other checks are more in depth and much more sneaky. Done with a view to
finding everything out that might amount to a threat; but skimping on detail
to preserve the lack of evidence where nessecary.
Legwork before the meet? take two bottles into the shower?... :-)

Quicksilver isn't thought of as one of the "big names" in Shadow
circles, but they may have a small reputation. What little is known
about them is that they are an assassin and that nobody knows what they
really look like. While they have never been heard to brag about such
things, among the people who keep track of such things, they are pinned
as most likely for taking out at least two high level Mafiosi in Seattle
in the past few years (mostly because the other likely candidates were
accounted for or on the deceased's payroll). [BTW: Both of these hits
appeared in ShadowTk, but I haven't had time to go through the logs and
recover their names.] Among the more conspiracy-theory oriented, a few
people may even mention the idea that they are not one person, but a
revolving group. Their only "signature" is that their representative
prefers to wear a silver mask.

Digging around more than a little will probably get Archangel notice
from NewzJunkie, who he may bump into matrix-side, just as a feeler to
see if he's interested in purchasing info but really to find out what
and why Archangel wants to know. NJ won't be more helpful than anything
he'd find elsewhere, particularly because NJ would rather not see one of
his better paying clients come to harm, not that he would let on that
that was the case.

Cheers, it's unlikely he'll need to go deep enough to run into Newsjunkie,
its just a check to make sure that the people who he's working alongside
don't have reputations for turning on teamates (or cooperating teams),
mental instability (of the major kind), stuff that gets around gery quickly
and easily.

By the way, I don't think I explained the dossier, it's almost the same one
as Lynch got during Poor Little Soldiers this May, the only difference is
that Stranger's photo is replaced with a black silloette with a white
question mark across it. (hey the disguise skill is no longer something we
have in our gaming group only!)

XLR8 has the reputation of being a bit of a physical coward... he likes
to let his drones do the fighting (if it comes to that) while he lurks
in an armoured vehicle a couple of blocks away... pretty standard rigger
protocol, I guess. Previous work he's been involved in was mostly subtle
surveillance behaviour, industrial espionage, and some courier work.
He's recently started branching out into decking, but he's not much good
at it yet.

*cough*
"Turning on teammates...," he says. It all depends on what you mean by
"turning on," I suppose. *nudge*nudge* *wink*wink*

No, I'm not nuts, but suffice it to say that one of the ways that
Quicksilver can get itself close to its targets is by making itself
"irresistible." On the other hand, among teammates, Quicksilver either
keeps this trait to itself, or utilizes it with those it feels will be
discrete enough to not spread it around the shadow-circles.

Take this as an open call to the people involved in this story: We
should probably take this offline unless people are really interested in
spilling back-story goodness in front of the rest of the list. Paul,
ultimately this is your show. Want to have footage of the meet on
Tuesday hit the list? If so, we should get started and bang some stuff
out this weekend while people aren't overly preoccupied with
work/school/life-in-general.

This kicked off as a throwaway to get some traffic on the list, as part
of a planned longer-term story. I was pleased by the response :)

Soraya will report in to her boss a couple of days after Tuesday. She
actually doesn't like using Shadowland for sensitive traffic: too much
history of it being compromised by Bad Guys (who could include anyone
from Feds to Interpol to CoT). So, we have some time, and I'm happy to
run with what people here want. Detailed expositions, or capsule
summary?

Flip a coin, maybe... I tend to be a summary type of person, if I have
to have a preference.

Personally, I'm more of a summary person, myself, too. I can give you a
description of Wraithslayer and you can work it into the story, if you
like?
