Subject: Possible plot problems with my final Challenge post from Val.
Date: Mon, 28 Mar 1994 17:40:48 -0500
I feel it is important to mention that I will be naming a few important NPCs
in the SR universe when I post the challenge. Namely, Seamus O'Kennedy, the
patrician of the O'Kennedy clan in the TNO book, and Lady Brane Deigh, Queen of
the Seelie Court.

However, neither of them will play an active part. Lady Deigh will be the
judge and overseer of the final Challenge between Valentine and the O'Kennedy's
and Seamus will be there to make his clan's aquiescance to the Court official,
along with Dane and the leading O'Kennedy Steward. I hope this doesn't seem
like name-dropping, but while I can probably get away with Seamus not being
there(and therefore might do so), Lady Deigh is vital to the plot, as Val is
issuing his challenge in the tradition of Lugh challenging the doorman for
entrance into Tara in the Battle of Moyturra(my spelling is bad, but the actual
text of the Battle is excellent--I highly recommend it for additional reading
into TNO history and "religion") and his final test before the King and Ogma
upon entrance. So, only Lady Deigh will do.

And I also plan on revealing, in hints and allusions, much of Hermit
's and Val's history. Some of you don't like Val because of my making him a
spike baby(and I hope this doesn't start up another characterization war as
this is not it's purpose), but I don't plan on saying so explicitly. It will
be apparent from the hints that I drop, but never openly stated. And Hermit's
relationship with the old TT White Banner guards(something else that might not
be appreciated) will be alluded to as well(and already has been).

While I think that most of my plot is set, I will happily listen to suggestions
if you think this is inappropriate, but most of it is pretty solid. I just
wanted to make sure no-one was appalled and/or terminally surprised at my use
of major NPCs from the books and novels.
