haven't had time as of late due to NERPS and FAQ rewrites, but much of
that will be done in the next two weeks.
Ramirez has been working for the last month on designing what would be be
described as the ultimate smartframe, using Yoshida Tech's line of expert
system computers. The construct that will come out of this design will
not be an AI, and will very quickly die, at least in its first
incarnation.
Essentially, as a RW comparison, remember the movie TRON? Remember at
the beginning when Flynn sent a tank in to try to infiltrate the MCPs
memory? The program running the tank was named Clu.
I quote:
Flynn: Ok, clu, tonight we check everything in the right hand column.
>pause<
Flynn: Clu
Clu Yes, sir.
Flynn: We don't have much time left to find that file. This is top
priority.
Clu Yes, sir. I know sir.
Flynn: This isn't just correcting my bank statement or phone bill
problem again. This is a must. (I always loved that line)
Clu I understand, sir.
Flynn: Now. I wrote you.
Clu Yes, sir.
Flynn: I taught you everything I know about the system.
Clu Thank you, sir, but I'm not sure that...
Flynn: No buts, Clu. That's for Users. Now you're the best program
that's ever been written. You're dogged and relentless,
remember?
Clu Let me at 'em!
Flynn: That's the spirit. Now keep that tank rolling and I'll try to
cover you from this end. Go.

Clu then proceeds into the heart of the system, is chased down by a
bunch of Ice (known as Recognizers), and his tank is eventually forced
into a wall where he is captured by the evil MCP and destroyed.
The construct I am working on is going to be much like this. Very
cunning, even able to learn somewhat. But it has the benefit of being
blindingly FAST! That is where MONICA has always had an edge, in her
speed. One on one, MONICA will clean the clock of ANY decker. It is
only though dividing her attention and predicting her moves that you can
stay ahead. The artifical construct will give us our first glimpses into
the heart of the AI system, where we'll learn for the first time what
evil plans MONICA and Meyers have for the world.
BTW, I need a name for this construct, an acronym would be nice. Of
course, I could also call it Clu out of homage, which might be a nice
touch.
