Its likely that we would have failed, taken a lot of losses in
the process, and maybe gotten it into the forefront that the UB isnt
just another salvation army. The govt. would then step in (with the
help of a number of corps with their equipment and people) and
figure out what to do. Knowing the govt like I do they would say
"Someone fire up the mass driver, lets drop a rock on them" and someone
else would say "Think of all the innocents" and yet another person would
say "Damn the torpedoes, full...Umm, I guess that isnt really appropriate,
kill em anyway". And so the discussion would go until someone decided
to drop a bomb on them (fewer innocents would die). And so it goes.
