Power plant at Cermac and racine is where the final hit happens. That is
where the nuke goes off.

About a bus load is killed, at the final, when the insect's ward traps them
inside with the explosion

This is left as an excercise for the reader. No one specifically was named.

Chicago goes under martial law because everyone was afraid fo contaminatin
of the rest of the world (cont. US) and there was no way that the sec guards
could tell who was insectoid and who wasnt. The fact that they [the insects]
could fly over the police lines didnt really come up in the book.

There were other places hit during the author's telling of the story. I can
scan for those if you need them for color.
