Nightfox is correct to say that Hermetics see magic through an analitical
looking glass and that their belief system is limmited in its influence
of the mages magic. I think the problem lies in the use of the word
"Toxic." "Toxic shamans" are not neccessaryily toxic -- generally
they
are somehow bipolar in their interpretation of the magics they wield.
Instead of prosuing magics that can be precieved to have benefit (if only
for defence) they actively prosue magics that are opposite of this.
Magics that can only cause harm or destruction.

The real question then should be "can a Hermetic mage change the filter
through which he precieves the magic he wields?" I think the answer is
yes, but in this case a better description would be a Chaotic mage. This
describes a bipolar shift in the mages personal view of magic. He no
longer wields magic from an analitical standing, but from a chaotic mess
that can only be counter to what is the status quo.
