I have said that I believe the "equivalent to 'runners" exist today in some
form. I do _not_ say that there exist establishments equivalent to "runner
bars" to cater to them. I believe they use the same bars and restaurants as
everybody else.

That's why we have things like the FBI (however effective they are). The way
a "runner" stays around is by not attracting the attention of the law
enforcement authorities. If they want your ass and you aren't in hiding,
chances are good that they'll have your ass. And again, the sort of coffee
shop meetings and whatnot depicted in Heat are _not_ "runner" bars. They're
just normal establishments that the team can be _contacted_ through or that
the team is "working from" (big difference).
