According to Robert Rodriguez:

Are you complaining here that people are violating the standard rules
or that people aren't being liberal enough with them?

What exactly do you mean by "push the boundaries?" What sort of plots
would you like to see happening? If you have firm ideas for good
plots, why not just introduce them yourself?

There's a fine line to walk between restricting the imagination and
destroying the suspension of disbelief. For me, at least, a profusion
of time/date stamp alterations strains the suspension of disbelief.

With all due respect, when I go out and buy a product, I do so on the
basis of quality and price, not on the basis of packaging. One might
think that fixers and Johnsons may be tempted to do the same. The
question, then, is whether time/date stamp alteration is an indication
of quality.

All I can say here is that if someone were to have their character do
this, it would basically destroy my suspension of disbelief. In "real
life" firefights don't go down like that. Call it restriction of
imagination if you like, but I think that the Shadowrun universe
should be able to reflect reality in the majority of its particulars.
