Why wouldn't it be commonplace? Paper is already incorporated into the
outer layer of gyprock. If you wanted to make sure an astral thingy didn't
get through, just put another layer over, something like thick unlbeached
paper (it wouldn't have to be made from wood-pulp. It could just be some
seaweed or bio-crap). That would add nothing to the cost of producing the
building. In a car? It's the same thing (although the glass would also
have to be coated).
Mages make up more than 10% of the population. Why WOULDN'T they be
protected against?
