Nope, it's an information file that helps MS OUtlook/IE Mail to
configure itself properly, what normally happens unfortunately, is that
the mail appends a signature automatically, unless that signature is
specified correctly, or pasted in manually, the silly program attaches
the .dat file just for the hell of it. It's part of the
Mime/HTML/RTF/include section. Under Tools Options, it's necessary to
make sure the darn program is set to Plain Text, and disable the auto
include for signature files. dat files are quite important to Windows
and Windows software - they're basically configuration files.

OK, the techie stuff. :)

Tools - Options. Send
Plain Text (checked)
Plain Text (checked)

Settings can be for Mime - /no/ encoding, with the auto
wrap set to 76 characters, and indent to chevron or
prefered whatsit.

Alternatively, it is possible to use Uuencode for
mail - This can also be set through the Text Settings.
Uuencode seems to force Outlook/MSI Mail to use plain
text.

Optional
Include messages in reply (checked)

Reply to messages using format sent (disable)
Automatically complete e-mail addresses (disable)

Under Security
Disable the "Digitally Sign all messages", unless there is a
reason to leave it enabled.

When composing a new message, make sure that it is set for Plain Text
under "Format".

That should prevent any includes from attaching themselves to the mails

Hope that helps. :)
