<Big snippus of stuff not for me to remark upon>

Paul and I have tried to portray a little bit the increasing media
attention on Lone Star regarding incidents in Seattle, and the Star's
increased activity - starting with bad press, and leading up to better
reports as a result of successes. Whether this would have a direct and
detrimental effect on the few operational characters on the list is
debateable. In that respect, the majority of hirings I'm indulging in
at the moment are out of town, and the people are shipped out minus
their equipment.

Another reflection of the increasingly poor situation in Seattle, was
the willingness of one of my teams to relocate to Boston where life
seems to be warming up somewhat, once it gets sad there they'll move
again - I hear New Orleans is a good place to run at the moment <grin>

Where Lone Star are such an established part of Shadowrun and FASA
cannon, I for one, and I think Paul would agree, am nervous of
portraying the intensity that they are likely to present to the general
public. Of course they'll be more active, they certainly won't sit back
and ignore the situations that have arisen, they have a contract to
defend after all, and as I've said before many of the people employed by
LSS Seattle, are likely to be from the old Seattle PD - people who care
about the city rather than imports from Texas. :)

It is the fact of Lone Star's established history, that I've left them
alone, and concentrated more on my little pet Achilles, Pual I think
feels the same way and remains with SIGA. We do occassionally try to
make sure that Lone Star are given due credit, but in general we try to
make sure that things are worked specifically in existing plot lines
rather than generalised terrorist events.

Lone Star are a Police Force. In that, they have a regimented method of
operation. By current American statute, in terrorist or hostage, high
risk or multiple killing situations FBI agents are automatically
involved, they also will under most circumstances assume control. I can
post you a document that explains this in more detail if you want. But
basically FBI departments like CINT (Critical Incident Negotiation Team)
and ViCAP (Violent Crime Apprehension Program) EU-BDC (Explosives Unit-
Bomb Data Center), FEMA (Federal Emergency Measures Agency) and other
such branches all designed to react rapidly to given situations,
situations where specialist training is more important than the more
generalised training offered to Police Officers. Don't forget it was as
a result of insufficient skills that the first SWAT teams were formed,
and since then, they have been getting more and more widely used (see
SWAT post - this list).

Now that's not to say the Police are inneffectual or wasted space. That
would be a ludicrous statement, but co-operative investigation, sharing
of information and manpower is most likely to be the norm over the next
few decades, rather than individual action as has been the case
previously. I do believe that Lone Star would crack down, but it's
difficult to effectively govern a city where 35% of the population is
SINless, and living in areas that are close to warzones. It is most
likely, in my opinion, that the increased intensity would be in areas
that the Police already control, and where their presence is the most
important according to their contracts and the ratings assigned to areas
of the cities.

Just my thoughts. :)
