I see there being a set-back only in the sense of delay. The Crash would
have clearly devestated economies as much of the electronic transfer of
funds (absolutely critical nowadays) would have been halted at least for a
time and markets would have been disrupted, but I don't know of any major
research firm that wouldn't have made hardcopy of their data and programs,
if not airgapped them. To an extent, viral transfer could have affected a
few of these airgapped systems (damn SneakerNet...) but no computer will
jump out and shred paperwork. I can see for a time the research funds
being rather dried up while some of this sorted itself out, but I can't
really see any regressions in technologies.
Does FASA have any specific claims? (Realistic or not....)
