I would say that depends on the age of the vampire. How old is
AJ? And a year is a bit long. Especially if this is a very active
vampire.

Yep, we've been over it before. But while I see your point, it
would
require me to make some changes to his personality that I'm not
comfortable
doing.

The other alternative to not fearing him is being convinced that
you are superior. Warloc has met vampires before. He has killed some and
he has let some live. He was able to kill those easily enough so until
he gets really knocked on his arse by one he is not going to be afraid.
Even then he will likely just be a little more cautious and strike first
and ask questions later.
