Subject:	Riots and nasty happenings

OK, just for a little clarification so no mistakes are made. The riots
began on Saturday evening, following what had until then been a peaceful
(well mostly) demonstration march. It should be relatively evident what
has happened to cause the problems. The rioters aren't just CoT driven
looneys, they are also people from the area fighting for their lives.


Certain incidents have seen fit to continue the riot overnight, and
through today - first is the desperate measures finally employed by the
Police and Security to bring a semblance of order to the damn place, the
second is a series of explosions and shootings, public unrest,
disatisfaction and all the myriad of things that go together to make a
riot - we've all seen them, if not for real, then on the TV, and it is
very easy for something like this to get totally out of hand.


The battles are no longer just oriented towards racism, other causes
have found their way into this. However, I do see the riots dying in
the next few hours, with just sporadic gun battles between gangs and
vigilantes and Police. The majority of people will have "burned their
anger out" so to speak. I believe there are still a couple of planned
events to occur, but these are not likely to instigate such a total
reaction.


The attack on Haven (what can I say) that is likely to cause all sorts
of repurcussions (IMO) The anti magic crowd are going to have a field
day with the events in Redmond/Renton and other forces individuals are
going to have a lot of fun trying to figure out precisely what has
happened - and how.


I wonder, what the reaction of people who have only heard of haven as a
safe place for people and a site of learning will think when they see
this wall around it, and begin to realise the power that it took to
place it there. Well, it's not my game so there won't be panic and
terror in the streets, but I can't help wondering about that. (Hey
Paul, remember the conversation we had over on S'rn concerning mages
levelling city blocks with a simple gesture <g>)


Finally. <heh> There is a post heading for the list that will arrive
earlier than it should do, however I might not be able to log on
tomorrow evening (hopefully I can) but if not, I want to make sure this
gets to the list. It's set for daylight and post dated - hopefully that
won't cause any trouble. So, please try not to respond to it if you are
likely to until after it's stated time - thanks.


The other things that I've spoken to people about will still go ahead as
planned. This is not a small organsition, and in it's activities has
recruited enthusiastically. There is a great deal yet to be done to mop
up, there are still die hards who can't take the hint. Anyway, you'll
see what I mean. :)


Thanks everybody for everything you've done so far, it's been a blast.
Now as from tomorrow evening it'll be time to start mopping up the cells
and groups left lurking on the streets.
