Sorry Frank, not rumors. I playtested the silly thing. Things may have
changed in the final version, but I doubt it changed dramatically.

Which also means that I probably broke my playtester's agreement mentioning
any of this stuff here, but I felt that I needed to do a pre-emptive
strike, before GenCon and SR3, so that people could start thinking about
what they may or may not need to do here on TK.

Sounds good.

As Avenger mentioned, actual affects should be relatively minimal. But
things like no more Spell Locks, no more Groundings and the inability of
live matter to stop astral projection (so those ivy walls won't stop
projecting magicians anymore!) does have some potential implications to how
we tell some of our stories and how we have some of our our PCs handle things.

And as I said, magic will be depowered, as will most activities, since
there will now be a limit to the maximum number of successes (typically
tied to Skill or Force level). No more adding Combat Pool to a Firearms 2
and getting 10 successes; while this shouldn't have a direct impact on how
we write our stories, it'll certainly alter how we see what our PCs can do
(those of us that have stats for our PCs anyway, and not all mine do).

Yes, most of that we should be able to fudge over with creative writing,
which is what we are all about anyway.

I'm just trying to give folks some warning so that they have ample time to
think about how they want to fudge things, or what sort of changes they are
going to need to make to their PCs and if need be, time to justify those
changes.

I know in my case I've got to figure out how to change the Dark Stranger,
since he relies heavily on two particular Spell Locks. I haven't decided
yet if I simply want to make those Quickenings or go the route of Spell
Sustaining Foci. I've had the rules for SSFs for months now and I've still
been unable to make up my mind.

So no, I'm not trying to panic anyone, I'm not trying to be "Ooh, isn't he
cool" or any such crap like that. I'm just concerned about making sure TK
makes a nice, smooooooth transition from SR2 to SR3, and while that may
only require a bit of creative writing, it'd be best if we had some time to
think about how we are going to be creative ahead of time.

And considering that RN is expecting a burst of membership after GenCon,
it's highly likely that TK will get at least a bit of spillover from that
growth. We need to make sure we're (the list) prepared for that sort of
thing.

So in closing, I would just like to recommend that people take a look at
their PCs and think about how the changes might affect them and how you
might need to justify in fiction those changes, or if you need to changes
strategies or something.
