{casuist}]
sophistry n : a deliberately invalid argument displaying ingenuity in
reasoning in the hope of deceiving someone [syn: {sophism}]
i.e. Saying "If anyone has a mental problem with that then I understand",
when there has been
no previous mention of mental problems in the context of the conversation,
then saying "I never said
anyone had a mental problem."
To argue formally:
My refutation uses the fact that aforementioned mental problem was
introduced to the line
of conversation by you, and therefore can possibly only imply that someone
indeed has
a mental problem. To claim otherwise is sophistry. :-)
