ally spirit reads "play on runner with Conjure 2"
does this take up both Conjure points or can you still use one to
control another spirit.

Only one. (Meaning anyone who can use an Ally can use another Spirit,
possibly even two Allies!) The same goes for Greater Elementals (which
also require Conjure-2). Using two Greaters at the same time, however,
is likely to prove fatal :P

Are you sure about this ruling? When I first started playing the
game (oh so many months ago) this was in the first batch of 5 questions that
I mailed to FASA. Their response was that since the Ally spirit does not
turn, it is not "used" and therefore does not count against the Spirit limit
that a Runner's Conjure gives them.

Just want to make sure of this one.

I have the original mail from Jim Nelson giving us this answer. It's
now pasted in with a few other answers in an archive folder so I don't
have the actual date I got the message.

Tony and I also compiled the answers we've received from FASA and sent
them back to the DLOH's for them to go over in revising the official
FASA FAQ. At that time he never wrote back or commented with anything
saying "Wait! That's the wrong answer."

I can write and ask once more if this is the answer he's sticking with
if you have reason for doubt.

My question is, and I am not sure if has been asked before, but can a
runner with ally spirit use gear/weapons? If it is +1/+2, then why can't
the runner also use a weapon? This would fit in with the notion of a spirit
that watches over a runner. I can see the logic in not allowing extra
spirits, but weapons seems a different story altogether.

Looking for answers,

Sure, Ally Spirit is not keyworded as a weapon. Thus Shade could have
his Ally Spirit active and still bust loose with an Uzi as easily as
Red Widow could use the SMG while being augmented with Muscle Rep.

A mighty hello to the Shadowlands and Shadowlords out there!
Before I ask my question I have to say to the members of the mailing list a
big big THANK YOU for responding my last questions. I'm not so often online
and when I see an interesting question the answers were often made and I don't
want to give the same answer the third time. That's why I'm not often (quasi
never) participating discussions and this is sad, because over 200 Shadowrun-
Maniacs subscribed to the list and the same 15 people are doing the "dirt
job". We "passive consumers" should think about this and react on questions
and discussions a little bit more. I think a wrong answer to discuss is better
than nothing.

And now the question ladies and chummers:
Is it possible to cancel the effect of In-Fighting with thrashing an ally
spirit (card text: ...thrash to avoid damage from one source), because these
special cards take place in the safehouse and the Runners are more or less
fighting each other (multiple damage sources ?) ?

Thanks in advance,
Peicky

First, thanks for Your very true words above.
To Your question: No, Ally Spirit can only cancel the damage its user
takes, since the card text states: "Trash to avoid all damage *taken*
from one source." So the user can only cancel his part of the damage.

I'ld say that you could only cancel the damage done to the Shaman. It is
similiar to the effect of Highway showdown or The Big Chase, which deal
damage to every runner present. Back when FASA was answering my questions
(which was way back in August) they said that Ally Spirit and Full body
armor only cancel the damage done to the shaman/runner with the armor -
not the entire lot of damage.

I never thought about torturing my Ally Spirit to get more outta him, I
always thought he needed a good thrashing :)
Hmm, new card power maybe? "Thrash Thrash to Trash another Thrash"?
