Lets's take a look at the Runner Bam Bam. His game text says the
following....

BAM BAM-Street Samurai
8 Neuen
Gunnery, Melee 2
6/8 A1
Troll Runner
1 Neuyen: May add Melee To Attack Value.

Could you say, spend 3 Neuyen, to make Bam Bam add his Melee to his attack
value 3 times, giving him a +6, +0 to his threat rating?????

Tin Man says, 1 Neuyen, +1, +1 till end of turn, and we all know you can pump
him as many times as you have Neuyen. So would the same be for Bam Bam's
pumping ability????

Aslo, Using the gear/Cyberwere card, well cards, Hand Razors. If a runner
has two of them on him/her, you would gain the +1, +0 for each one, making
that a total of +2, +0. The other part of the game text says the hand razors
allow the ability to add the Runners Melee to his/her attack value. So if
two suck hand razors are on one runner with melee 3, say Shwaaaaaarrkk, would
he get the +3, +0 for his melee once or twice?? Would his grand total threat
rating be 13/8 A2, or 16/8 A2 ???????

I personally think adding melee to attack value can only affect the Runner's
Threat rating once, but it might not be the way it goes. Please Help me out,
Thanks

I hate to say it, Dennis, but this is probably .the. most common
question on the list.

Where a card says "... Y: +(foo) until end of turn", that ability is
pumpable. For instance, Tin Man, which you describe below.

However, some cards read "... Y: (foo) until end of turn". Those cards
are not pumpable. The big difference is that tiny plus sign! Prime
examples for non-pumpers include the Crawler Drone, Stiletto's ability,
and Bam-Bam ("1Y: May add Melee to Attack Value.")

Bam-Bam could probably be worded better, if at least giving it a tagline
of "use this ability only once per turn."

I believe either Jim or Mike commented on Handrazors. They're being
erratta'd to read something along the lines of "+X+1/+0 to user, where X
= Melee." So two Handrazors will add the Melee value twice.

Yeah, Skwaaaark romps with two sets of Handrazors. Just be glad he
can't use Skillsofts to pump that rating up higher...

Congrats, you've stumbled across the list's most commonlly asked
question. :o)

Quoting the SRCard Game Q&A:

Q. By paying the cost again, may Bam Bam's melee be added to his
Attack Value multiple times?

A. Sorry, can't grant your wish. Bam-Bam's Melee can only be added to
his Attack value once per combat. We'll make this clearer when the
card is reprinted.

The key point to note here is that a designation of nu yen giving +X
(i.e. 1Y: +2/+1) denotes an open ended pumpable card. Cards like Bam
Bam lack the +X and thus may only have nu yen paid to use their
special once in a given turn.

So if

We now go to the FAQ on FASA's page for the answer to this one:

Q. If a Runner is holding two Hand Razors does he add his Melee to his
Attack value twice?

A. Yes.

I've been told by Jim Nelson that the card text will be clearer in the
2nd Printing. It will read something like: "+X/+0 (X=Melee+1). Runner
may use a max of two Hand Razors."
