Subject: armor on challanges

heres one to ponder.
the challenge HUNTING GARGOYLE has a threat rating of
8/9 (A3).
does this mean that every runner must reduce their damage by 3
unless it is AP.

if I am correct that would mean that unarmed runners with less
then a 4/? would in fact only do 1 or no damage.

The Gargoyles reduce each incoming source of damage by three.

So let's take out string of Runners: 1/1, 2/2, 3/3, 4/4, 5/5, and 6/6.
The resultant damage they inflict would be 0, 0, 0, 1, 2, and 3,
repsectively (or a total of six damage). The minimum damage a Runner
can inflict is zero, not one. (And there is no negative damage.....)

Rule of thumb -- buff up your Runners! Buy em big, or Gear them up so
they get that way... or, uh, pack an Invisibility or Sleep and don't
worry about it at all.

Correct. If I understand what you're saying. Each Runner or source of
damage would have three subtracted from the attack value.

So let's say I have the following team:
- Drake: 4/5
- Red Widow: 5/4
- Redline: 4/3
- Loki w/ Defiance Shotgun: 7/2
- Foxy Roxy w/ Dermal Plating: 1/3 (A1)

They would be doing the following damage to the Gargoyle in combat:
1/2/1/4/0 for a total of 8 points and not enough to kill it.

Luckily it wouldn't deal enough damage to kill my team either. Next
turn I could fill the 6th slot of the team with Tempest (enough damage
to kill it) and packing two sleep spells just in case. ;o)

Of course, with Tempest, you could always just sleaze it, too :-)

Foxy Roxy with Dermal Plating? Wouldn't that kind of defeat the whole
(story-wise) purpose of Foxy Roxy? Who are you going to flirt with if
you've got plates sticking out of your skin? Trolls? :-)

Correct. Every runner had to subtract the armor rating of what they are
engaging. Makes it harder to kill challenges.
