Hey guys, here's a question Jim Nelson wanted me to forward to the
list. Let me know if anyone else is experiencing the issue and I'll
get him the feedback.

Thanx!

I have found that the card stock is of a low quality when compared to other
CCGs out there. The ink comes off rather easily, cards stick together and
are subsequently ruined if there is even a bit of moisture. The only
reason I haven't complained about is because: 1. Of the 10 or so messages
I've sent to fasacorp2@***.com, I've only gotten 1 response. 2. They can't
do anything about it now. and 3. I don't really care what the cards look like,
as long as I can still read and use them. (this may change when tournaments
start being formed and the cards could be considered marked)

I can just see it now....
Disqualify him judge. He has a fingerprint on the upper right corner on that
card and one in the lower left on that one. It must be some kind of marking
system...

Yes, I do have a few cards with finger prints on them already. I'm the player
who likes to hold his hand rather then put them face down on the table.
I've played and owned a lot of cards for Magic, Star Trek, Blood Wars and
Wildstorms and I have yet to see such a quick degredation in cards. Then again
it might be because the Shadowrun Cards have a much darker tone, so the white
finger prints show up easily...

The best thing to do about the bad cards quality: plastic protectors...
The ones i use are really cheap : about 100 for 1$ and they save my cards
from moisture...

Heh. My cards rarely see fresh air - I've not had many games with them
since I haven't really had much spare time lately. Hence, they stay in
the display sheet and get drooled over. :)

No, but when ya put 'em back in their box (say, after a heated session
of play), they tend to stick together & I have to peel 'em apart.

Are they supposed to wear out? Maybe we've not playing often or
intensely enough? `;-p

wOW,interesting that you mention that....but yes we have played a total
of 20 or so games, and the wear and tear on the cards is EXTREMEMLY
noticable <sp?>.... comparable to my MagicTG card which which lasted
forever.

The black border is being worn off on the cards I use the most. Unfortunatly
it includes both sides of the cards making the wear visible when drawing from
the deck.

Well, unless you count the leaking water glass that was sitting next to my
deck, nope, they are wearing fine. (Unfortunately, the cards were not
salvagable. Wah!)

Here's one other thing on the subject of card quality that you might
want to pass along to Jim & Skuzzy:

Three out of the twelve or so booster packs that I've purchased have
been cut off center. (That's 1 in 3!) So much that in many cases,
there is no top 'marble border' above the card's name/title & there's an
'extra' marble line below the artist's credits!! *THIS* needs to be
looked into, especially as this is supposed to be a valuable limited
edition!
Printing errors = de-valued cards!!
(I mean, we're not talking dollar bills, here...given the choice,
which cards would *you* buy/trade?)

Has anybody else had a similar prob with the boosters? Or did our
hobby store just get a bad batch?

Thanks, for passing this along Loki.

I think a lot of it has to do with the colors tey used, for one thing.
tehre is a lot of ink on those cards, and tehy're suffering much the same
as my Black Bordered Magic Cards (Especially the older ones) did.

But, it's also part os the ink they used, I think. It's think and heavy,
which means it flakes off or "melts" (thus getting fingerprints or
stickyness) easily. Also, it doesn;t take the metallic ink of those
markers the artists use to sign cards well, either...:(

I hafta agree. The cards I shuffle every once in awhile are trashed
already. I can tell the difference b/t cards recently shuffled and
cards that just came out of a booster. My M:tG cards and other CCG's
look worse as I tend to destroy them, so mebbe it is my fault. Maybe
the card stock is poor. Either way, I've noticed a distinuishing
mark in the upper left hand corner of many of my playing cards, it was
annoying me yesterday, and after these emails, I'm probably going to
go home and stare at them for hours. Oh well. It's a card game--if
I didn't play it, I wouldn't have any fun.

As far as from game play there is little wear on the cards. I guess
we'll just have to play more often. I have noticed that the edges get
damaged easily though when I'm pulling my "spare" cards from the
storage box (it's one of those 800 card cardboard boxes, where the
cards sit "on edge"). On the other hand, maybe it's just time to cut
the fingernails :-)
