Hey Gang,

Got a few situations to throw at you here. I would appreciate
your input. It involves the card Bar Fight. There was some
discussion on this card last week or so, but I don't recall if any or
all of the situations I'll bring up were covered.

Bar Fight (0 nuyen)
Special
Play Bar Fight on target opponent and choose a Runner from your
safehouse. Target opponent chooses a Runner from his safehouse. The
two Runners fight, resolve combat as normal.

Here's the situation. I play a Bar Fight on my opponent who only has
one runner, Kracker Jack. He sees that he only has Kracker Jack and
that I will kill him and mutters something derogatory about my mother
and how he will get me back....

Here a few of the options he thought about using.
1) He wanted to play a Moonlighting on Kracker Jack, since he would
then be turned and could not participate in the Bar Fight and
therefore stay alive.
Questions: Can he do this? Or has the Bar Fight already started
and combat has begun so he is out of luck? When does combat "begin"
or does this argument even matter? Since it is my turn, I get to go
first on simultaneous actions, so would my Bar Fight happen before he
could use Moonlighting?

2) He wanted to use a Green Apple Quicksteps to send my Runner home.
Questions: Can he use this on my Runner? Are the runners still
in the safehouse during the Bar Fight and so he can't send my Runner
home, since he already is home?

We decided that since we were already checking out how much damage
each runner could do/take combat had begun, and so he couldn't play
his Moonlighting. As for the GAQs he didn't have the money to pay for
it anyway, making the idea moot. (He wasn't happy when I pointed this
out to him.)

I am curious to here how people feel about this.

This is getting WAY into the whole concept of M:TG reverse timing. To put
it simply, no.

Once a card has been played, it is resolved before another card can be
played, unless it's something like LOTI, which specifically says "On a
Special just played" or something like that.

I would say that, yes, he could send them home with GAQS, since this does
not (I believe) say "Shadowrunning Character" or anything like that. And
they would have to leave the safehouse to go pick a bar fight. After all,
they're in a BAr! (Though some runners may consider a bar their safehgouse
:))

No. the Bar Fight has already started. the Moonlighting can't be used to
interrupt it.

>>>2) He wanted to use a Green Apple Quicksteps to send my Runner
home.<<<

I'd say that's fine because Bar Fight specifies that the Runners are
chosen from the Safehouse. To me, this implies that they leave the
safehouse to fight 8at the 'bar"). Otherwise why mention the Safehouse
at all?

Tough calls, both of them. I'd tend to agree with you that if damage
is already being compared, you're into the combat and it's too late
for either to be played. If GAQS or Moonlighting came out during that
"normal pause" after Bar Fight was played I'd say they could be allowed.

Still, in the end, it's your turn and timing goes to you.
