How do you guys play this card? (Crash-Gear/Matrix card)

It says "Trash ALL electrical challenges"

Do you play this only when on a Shadowrun? Then trash electrical challenges
as you encounter them? or...
Do you play this outside of a Shadowrun and then you are able to trash any
electrical challenges as you encounter them, or...
Do you play this whenever and everyone must remove revealed and unrevealed
electrical challenges...

My gut feeling is that it works just like steamroller but no die rolls are
needed. Any takes?

My impression is that any Gear (or special ability) that affects a
shadowrun needs to be used by someone present or assisting with that
shadowrun. Razorback, for example, can't play martyr in the safehouse
to get the gang past the security guards. (This isn't a hard and fast
rule; there may be a card intended to do exactly this.)

Pretty much, a decker assisting in the shadowrun would turn the program,
and then it acts like a Steamroller without the die rolls.

(IMO, Crash isn't worth the four extra Y, except against a dedicated
R3-type deck.)

IMHO I agree with you that it works just like steamroller, that it is trashed
when youencounter an electical cahllenge, but I also believe that you could
use this card in conjunction with recon.

It says that you can trash ALL the electrical challenges
on target objective.
However, it's not very intuitive as to when you can do
this. Can you only use this program on a shadowrun?
Can you use it during the legwork phase? And are
the Challenges immediately trashed? Or only when
they are revealed?
