Curious as to if any of these cards in these Net Expansions have been
discussed among those on the list card by card or not. I'm a bit newer to
the SRCard mailing list than most of you, so I'm just curious as to if they
are just okayed because someone created them or if they've been critiqued or
not by players. I know they're not official cards or anything, but if I ran
into someone on here in RL and decided to play a game of SRTCG with
'em....and they got a cool deck with card creations from here, and they're
ones (say) I don't feel are balanced properly personally and I won't play
against...wouldn't that be sorta a bummer? I'm just wondering if a majority
concensus vote by players are taken for the cards or not. I
mean.....hey.....I'm all for it...but to be honest....there are quite a few
cards I've seen on the list I wouldn't let fly myself. I'm cool with any
defensive remarks made to mine, though I'm not trying to be offensive or
disrespectful. My 9 cents....Laterz....Kev

Matb created the original concept and a good number (more than 30?)
cards. He then asked for list ideas to flesh out the set. Matb also showed
the initial set to some FASA members, and if I remember correctly they had
at that point expressed interest in having a net-created set. However,
these plans never came to fruition as the SRTCG game was shelved. Anyway,
Matb edited all of the cards and released them. He will no doubt continue
to collect ideas/bugs/comments/advice on the cards in AEX, and perhaps we as
a list can address what cards we want to be official.

Matb, feel free to comment. I can't speak for you. What I can say
is that I will look over the cards he created for the next release, and make
my changes, then post to the list. I will collect feedback, then make
changes, and then repost. At that point, if interest is still there, I
would like to ask for the list to vote on what cards in this set should be
"list official".

Yes. I suggest you use the net.cards only with people that know the
cards, or who are willing to take a chance. I would carry an extra non-net
deck around just in case such a scenario occurs. Listen, the truth of the
matter is, the game is currently canceled. I spend some time on an AD&D
list for the Dark Sun RPG, which has been canceled for quite some time. We
spent a lot of time arguing over "official" at first. Then we realized that
expanding is a lot of fun. If we wait, who knows what will happen. Now,
years later, the boxed set has been re-published, but no game expansions
have been made. None of us regret our decision to move on. With a CCG, half
the fun is learning new combinations and building decks. Easy victories are
no fun, and once you have played the same people over and over again, and
with no new players... this is when it is great to have net cards to play
with. If you meet a new player I suggest that you use only FASA cards, and
then once they have mastered the basics, see if they are interested in
adding a net expansion.

I agree. I would like to do this for the next release, and not
because of anything in AEX. I personally like AEX a lot, and I don't say
this for Matb's sake. However, if the list decides to embrace expansions
(and I hope it does, because things are getting boring) then we need to
limit how many, how often, etc. I think a good idea is to have whoever is
organizing an expansion solicit a lot of reviews and testing, then for the
list to vote on what cards they like. Maybe we set a size limit on
expansions, like 45 cards, to ensure quality. If a card doesn't make the
cut, it can always be introduced in another set.

Understood completely. I would rather hear dissenting opinions (and
I would not classify your e-mail more as dissenting) than no opinions at
all! My point is that Q&A is certainly a good role for the list, but face
it, after a while, the questions you have left are very few. Another role
is to post decks and strategy, but if we stick to the same cards then these
will run out. Last is trades, and if all we do is sell...

Thanks for the feedback. Keep it up. There is a lot of chance for
people to turn the game into what they want it.

One thing: when you create cards, keep them in a file. When someone
creates an expansion, post them again!

Teos.

Agreed critique of any kind is welcome. It keeps the list flowing and
lets more people add their opinions or vent their objections. All is
welcome...

Fully agree here as well.
