Well, this may or may not pertain to the list but I know how much people
love rumors here :)

As you may or may not know, Microsoft is buying FASA Interactive this
week (according to people who work at FASA and other sources). FASA is
getting big money for this deal supposedly. Has anyone else heard anything
else? Will FASA have a little extra money now? And maybe put Corp Wars out
next year? Or is SRTCG dead beyond any resurrection? I heard that FASA may
print out their Dragon sourcebook then call ED dead (to recoup some lost
money maybe). Perhaps the same will go for SRTCG?

The downside to this (besides Microsoft buying up another company) is
that Shadowrun: Assassin will be canned since Microsoft is already
developing a similar game. Argg.

Peace,

Okay - do you have any source for this other than the article which
appeared on www.gamespot.com a week or so ago? Because if that's your only
source, it's by no means a done deal - that article was very vague and
'maybe'ish.

And, for future reference, FASA does not own FIT. The same group of people
own both companies, but that's NOT the same thing.

I saw the article in gamespot a while ago. I live in Chicagoland and know
someone whose wife works for FASA so I asked them. They said it's a done
deal and the papers will be signed this week. Since it's not done yet, It's
still a rumor so to speak but so was ED being cancelled and corp wars being
discontinued. I'm also aware that FASA and FIT are two separate companies
owned by the same people but they're still privately owned and if one
company is making good money, the other still benefits. If the owners have
cash in their pockets and one could hope that they might be in a position to
take a little risk like printing Corp Wars, no?

well i believe the man stated it was a rumor for your information....geez so
quick to jump the gun...even if they did get big nuyen from this deal i don't
think fasa would reinvest in srccg..they would do the smart thing and put it
back into what they do best...roleplaying games..they are a roleplaying
company.. i'm sure they are trying to sell srccg to someone??who hhhmmm we
don't know..

To the best of my knowledge, your insinuation that SR:TCG might be sold (and
it seems you're suggesting that it might be sold to Satan) is only a
suggestion on your part, and has no basis in reality. I'm really, REALLY
hoping I'm right, and you're not spreading a rumor that might turn out to be
true. PLEASE tell me I'm right. PLEASE.

Huh? There's no suggestion that SRTCG is being sold as part of this deal.
What's being discussed is FASA Interactive, and therefore the rights for
the current PC game in development, Shadowrun: Assassin, being sold to
Microsoft, and MS perhaps subsequently scrapping Shadowrun: Assassin in
favour of a similarly themed game they are already developing. The rumour
comes from an article on gamespot.com, which you can find by searching for
FASA on the gamespot search engine.

I wasn't talking about the sale of FASA Interactive... I was talking about
one of the replies, in which someone mentioned a bunch of blah, blah, blah, as
well as a suggestion about FASA selling SRTCG, and then insinuated it would be
to WOTC, although this person didn't actually come right out and MENTION the
above-named Satan...

(Quoting the message you are replying to would be a big help, as I've done
here. It's covered in the FAQ at
http://shadowrun.html.com/hlair/ShowFAQ.php3?title=SRCard&faqlistúqsrc,
and is considered part of proper list etiquette.)

Anyways, rumours of SRTCGs sale/licensing have been flying since it was put
on hold, nothing solid has been said, and aside from making guesses as to
which company would want the game, there's nothing much else to say..

Sorry, I was in a hurry. If it's any consolation, the person I was hurrying
so I could chat with for a while logged off before I was finished wading
through my e-mail.

Well, FASA could bring life back to it, if they had the finances... Big IF
there, though. Hmmm, maybe one of us will win the lottery. (Yeah, right!)
