Here's the word on Even Steven vs Policlubber, and another one about
the Spell Lock.

Q. In the case of Even Steven, when would a Humanis Policlubber be
considered "used?" (i.e. - At all times? When he's deployed and
targets a meta-race? When he has hindered the deployment of a Runner
by costing an extra nu yen and bringing them in turned?)

A. I'd say that once the Humanis Policlub Ganger is in play, and the
owner of HPG has declared which race the HPG is "hindering", the HPG
is being used and can be targeted by Even Steven.

Q. Let's say I have Wildfire out and he's geared up with three spells:
Sleep, Jinx and Fireball. I've put a Spell Lock on Sleep. During the
course of a run on Haunted Highrise I cast Sleep twice thanks to the
spell lock and use Jinx on a maglock. Now facing the Objective, am I
correct in assuming I could not use the Fireball as, even though I
only turned two of my spells, I actually have "used" my allotted three
spells for this turn?

A. Yes.

Yes, what? I wish they were a bit more detailed than just this. If using
the spell lock counts as using one of the alloted spells for the turn,
then what is the use? It'll only be useful if you have one less spell
than what you can carry and use, and want a double of it (eg. a Sorcery 2
with one Sleep with spell lock). If this is the way it works, thew I must
say that Spell Lock has lost all it's appeal to me.

Keep in mind it's only a 2 nu yen piece of gear. Spell Lock has it's
uses.

For example, in a game last Saturday I had Wildfire out with a Sleep
and Jinx on him. I drew my Spell Lock and played it on Sleep. (Sure I
may eventually get to the second Sleep in the deck, but I have the
Spell Lock on hand now and if the second spell does end up coming up I
can just play it on Tempest.)

Wildfire then went on a run with Drake and Red Widow. The last
Challenge they hit was Chomps. Since I didn't have the Social to
sleeze the pooch, and I didn't want to just go home, I hit him with
Sleep but rolled a 3. Since the Spell Lock gave me the first casting
without turning, I was able to turn Sleep and hit Chomps a second
time. This time I rolled 5 and trashed the Challenge allowing me to
move on and grab The Initiation.

Does this then mean that Spell Lock is useless on the many characters
with Sorcery 1? :P

No, it means you can pop an invisibility on your Preahcer and then use him
to go through two challenges in a row (or not) for instance a Halloweener
Hell, and a Guardian Dracoform, whereas before you would only be able to use
it on one.

I believe you are incorrect. It does not increase your Sorcery. The
Preacher would still be limited to casting only once per turn.

I think the DLOH's backed me up on this one, when they were asked if a
wildfire on an dragon hunt could use a spell-locked sleep twice against two
challenges then, a Jinx in a Maglocks, and then a Fireball on the Dragon,
they said "Yes."

Actually, they said "Yes" to the question of "am I correct in assuming I
CAN'T
do this?"

Here's the answer again from the Q&A:
Spell Lock:
Q2: Let's say I have Wildfire out and he's geared up with three spells: Sleep,
Jinx and Fireball. I've put a Spell Lock on Sleep. During the course of a run on
Haunted Highrise I cast Sleep twice thanks to the spell lock and use Jinx on a
maglock. Now facing the Objective, am I correct in assuming I could not use the
Fireball as, even though I only turned two of my spells, I actually have "used"
my allotted three spells for this turn?
A2: Yes.

Hope this helps.

Tony

No, you interpreted the Q&A wrong.

Here's my question and their response again:

Now facing the Objective, am I

spells for this turn?

A. Yes.

But if you have Sorcery 2, use this trick, and then can't use another
spell, then using spell lock "uses up" your spells. It can't be
both, it has to be one or the other.
