This came up last night. My opponent played a Wanted on my Static.
He attacks him with Skitz. I use Knuckles to Guard. Can Knuckles deal
damage back, or does he just "take the bullet" for Static?

He takes the bullet. He can defend as Guard, but doesn't have offensive
power.

The way Jon and I (and apparently Zach, too) play is with a house rule that
allows bodyguards to protect runners in the safehose from Wanteds. IIRC,
the official ruling is that runner vs. runner combat does not take place in
the safehouse, so the bodyguard is not present to take the damage.

I think certain cards are an exception to the rule. Like Wanted & Riots.
Though, the rules do state that after combat between runners is finished,
survivors return to the safehouse and cannot continue. But.....the way the
rules are laid out....it seems that section is a reference on Intercepting a
Run. I personally think Guard would be allowed on Wanted and Riots, but on
cards like Z-Zone, Bar Fight and the situation of intercepting, the
Bodyguard would have to be present.

Technically Knuckles cannot use guard in the first place because by the
rules set up by the DLOH (in the faq) all runner vs. runner combat
happens outside of the safehouse where any guard trait cannot be used.
However lots of us on the list use a house rule much to the effect that
guard can be used anytime except to soak decking and location/contact
related damage... (Ie... blackhammer or Iron Lung). So back to your
question... If you allowed the action than I would say that only the
body of the body guard can be used. Knuckles takes the bullet while
Static is the one who damages Skitz.
