While a D6 roll is fine and simple in a fun game, I'm not sure how most
people in a tournament would react to losing, or for that matter, winning,
on a luck of the dice roll..

Of course, there isn't much of an alternative that isn't 'random' to some
degree.

Exactly, due to the time constraints there isn't a clean and simple
way I've come up with to settle ties that doesn't come down to a
proverbial "flip of the coin." As I said, my basic ideas are sketchy
and I'm looking for suggestions right now.

How are ties handle at other CCG tournaments where a time limit or
similar situation is involved?

BTW, welcome back to the list Adam. Thought you said you had to unusb
for a while. :o)

I like the idea you posted earlier today, with the 10/5/0 point split.
Seems to work in most organized sports :)

Not having the chance to play in any 4 player games yet, I can't even begin
to guess how they would work in a tournament. How about the M:TG practice
of 'Sideboarding'?, flipping some cards out for other ones between games.
I know M:TG is a fair bit different because it has 3 duels per match in
tourney play, but would players be allowed to switch cards out between
matches in these tourneys?

Uh, uh, pass? :)

Well, it was a while :)
I picked up a few more cards and got a couple games under my belt, so I
figured I may as well come back on. What's 40 more messages a day when you
already have 120? :)

I don't see why not. As I said in the post of my last tourney format,
there'd be five minutes between games to add in/swap out cards. As
long you maintain the 60-70 card limit (or whatever the tourney
standardization is).
