Lord Torgo is a runner with a 9/9 Threat rating And an Armor of 2.
Does anyone have a card that can trash him?
I'm not looking for combos. Just one card or a card and a certain runner.

Well I'm not sure what you mean by "a card and a certain runner" while
discounting combos. However, Skwaaaark with a Hand Razor can do 12 points
of damage.

In fact if you max it out with 2 Hand Razors and 2 CyberArms you can have
a 20/8 runner w/ stamina :-) I believe that this will pretty get through
anything in the game (atleast that I've seen so far). Or even better, if
you have Wired Reflexes instead of the CyberArms I believe that's 32
points of damage (if you make the roll).

Not bad for 10Y :-)

Booby Trap can potentially trash him.
Minefield might take him out.
Repeated use of Archie McDeven can keep Torgo out of commission
Green Apple Quicksteps can take him out of a run.
Guardian Dracoform or Dragon Hunt will nail him one-on-one.
He ain't too good v.s. a Maglock.
A good runner with the right weapon (burst fire or someone like
Stomper with a Katana can take him one-on-one).

Also Nets, Gut Check, Poison Gas Trap, Sim Simsenstation, and Retinal
Scan all have the potential to send him out of a run.

And the biggie: Use Ice Queen or Sticky Fingers to steal cash, or
Hollywood to cancel a runner's fame, thus depleting your opponents nu
yen stash. If he can't make the 2 nu yen upkeep during his Credstick
phase, Lord Torgo goes bye-bye. ;o)

Yep. If Torgo is isolated, it's probably the best card to waste him.

>Minefield might take him out.

Not unless Torgo's previously injured. If he /is/, then there's a
bunch of cards that might take him out.

>Repeated use of Archie McDeven can keep Torgo out of commission

Well, yes. But it costs you 3 nuyen a pop to use Archie this way
and it costs your opponent 2 nuyen a pop to keep him around. A
losing battle...

>Green Apple Quicksteps can take him out of a run.

Torgo reminds of the sports cliche - "You can't stop him. You
can only hope to contain him." :-)

>Guardian Dracoform or Dragon Hunt will nail him one-on-one.

Guardian Dracoform at 12/10 (A3) can. Dragon Hunt at 10/10 (A3)
cannot. (Again, unless he's injured.)

>He ain't too good v.s. a Maglock.

See Green Apple Quicksteps. :-)

>A good runner with the right weapon (burst fire or someone like
>Stomper with a Katana can take him one-on-one).

Stomper with a katana is /just/ a point short of killing Torgo.

6/7 + (+2/+0) katana + (+2/+0) melee added from katana = 10/7

Again, see Green Apple Quicksteps... :-)

I doubt very much this is legal. These abilities are useless until the
opponent gets his/her 4+ nuyen for the turn. Then, as it is /their/
turn, they get to take whatever action they wish to first - like
paying off Torgo.

True, that's why I added the word "might". :o)

It was just a listed option of one way to control him. Not for the
most part cost effective, but it should work for a few turns. Then I'm
toying with a deck that has four Glitz's and two or three Kromagnus's.
:o)

> >Green Apple Quicksteps can take him out of a run.

True. That's why I'm just tossing out options.

I forgot to bring my binder with my set into work with me, so I was
just going off the top of my head.

Again, as I said I didn't have my binder here and I couldn't remember
if Stomper was an Attack Value of 6 or 7. Sure the Vanilla Stomper
couldn't do it, but notice I said someone like Stomper. Bam Bam maybe?

I wasn't suggesting to use either ability during your opponents
legwork phase, I agree that would be a severe timing issue. Perhaps I
should've been more clear. I was meaning to use things like Ice Queen
or Sticky fingers to deplete surpless nu yen from previous turns, plus
using Hollywood(s) to keep Rocker(s) from adding to the Nu Yen they
get during credstick phase. This technique could have your opponent
having to decide whether it's worth it to keep using half of their
money each turn to keep Torgo out and have very little else he could
use the remaining 2 or so nu yen for, or to let the big guy go.

Tin Man or Marek, or any of the pumpable challenges (or Crossfire),
given enough yen. Nearly anyone with a Panzer Cannon. Wots and wots
and wots of wittle runners, especially with guns and APDS (and
DocWagon!)

Abducted! or Barney Phyffe.. for a turn.

A Significantly Large Critter (Hunting Gargoyles? Dracoform? Guardian
Elemental?), especially when backed with Amazonian Hunt or Critter Hunt.

There's plenty of Challenges to prevent him from ever succeeding on a
Shadowrun (Maglocks, Poison Cloud, etc), so if you can take him buddies
out, no worries.

Lord Torgo
Ganger Leader
Troll Prime Runner
Cost: 9/2¥
Skills: Gunnery, Leadership, Melee-3, Street-2
Threat Rating: 9/9 (A2)
Traits: Stamina
Special: Turn and pay X¥ to trash a number of elves in play equal to
the amount of nuyen paid.

** In 2nd Run, the DLOH's have said Torgo is slated to have his
special changed to something like: "Turn to inflict 3 AP damage to all
elf Runners in play." (IMHO this will be easier to defend against.)

Since this thread just came up and many players don't like this runner
for various reasons, I'd like to know different house rules you use on
him or would like to use, and those that you tested but didn't work out
too well. Please add if your house rules were play tested and if it
worked too. Tx.

We've tried using:

Pay X Nuyen to inflict X damage to target Elves in play.... Cost more,
but elves tend to have low body scores..... Worked okay.

We then limited the effect to only one Elf per turn..... That was okay,
slowed the abuse.....

We've left the original text, but only trash One elf per turn.....
still to effective, but it you get the run in.......

We've tried using a d6 roll..... 5-6 Torgo stays rotated elf remains in
play with no further damage..... That tends to be the favorite.....
except with the guy who play with 4 torgo's and copycat syndrome.....

Other than that..... We don't really use him that much..... I have 3
of him, but I think I've used him once..... I tend to prefer
Decker's..... more fun..... My friends tend to use only mage/shaman
decks or street Sams, and shy away from the bully decks..... they take
to much fun away from the game.....

No house rules, but we have, off and on, used the new Lord Torgo rules from
the upcoming 2nd run:

Tap torgo to deal 3 damage to all Elves in play.

Now, sure, this is still brutal, but when you consider this will take out
half of the rockers available now, including ones you might be using to pay
for Torgo, it's a dangerous thing :]

I know that I wouldn;t use Torgo's special ability in the deck that he's in
right now, as it would kill off a bunch of my runners :]
