Subject: New Card Ideas... Challenges

Hoi,

Here are some challenges that I came up with that in some cases will
stop a run cold, and in other cases hurt a heck of a lot, but in most
cases will just be fun to play.

Name - Customs Check
Type - Indoor/personel Challenge
Sleaze - None
Text - When Customs Check is revieled Shadowrun team must trash all
weapons/armor gear cards held by shadowrunning team and customs check is
trashed or the run is over and the shadowrunning team pulls out and
customs check is turned over. If no weapon/armor gear is present the
run may continue and Customs check is trashed.
Flavor - "Hey you can't bring that in here!"

Reasoning - There are some things that you just cant bring into a
building and its a safe bet the security guys won't give them back

Name - Rouge Windago
Type - Awakened Challenge
Sleaze - athletics-3 , stealth-2
Threat - special
Text - Roll D6 when revieled. 1-2 Frag 2 runners present. 3-4 fight
Windago 10/10 (A2). 5-6 All runners take 4 AP damage and run ends.
Trash Windago after resolution.

Reasoning - Windago are really nasty creatures that feed on human fleash
(choice 1). They are very stong and nasty fighters, better than most
trolls (choice 2) and exceedingly fast they can attack and be gone
before you could get a shot off (choice 3)

Name - Automated internal security system
Type - indoor/electrical/closed system challenge
Sleaze - technical-3 decking-1, stealth-2
Threat - 14/7 (A1)
Text - If revieled using any form of recon, the runner takes 3 points AP
damage. If no decker is physically present on the shadowrun the run
ends after combat. Fight security drones. Trash after revieled.
Picture - a small framed scared decker surrounded by razer guys looking
at a walled compound with turrets and gun towers.
Flavor - "Laser Beams, sentry guns, drones... I ain't goin in there"

Reasoning - This one is kinda wierd. Its a bully/mage/heavy hitter
stopper but only once. That seemed fair. you can't lock out 3/4 of all
running groups forever. You must fight the drones this keeps players
from going I send one guy he trashes it and goes home unharmed then I
bulldog van in my whole team.

Name - Electrical Storm
Type - Miscelanious Challenge
Sleaze - none
Threat - none
Text - Roll D6 for each piece of cyberware present. 1-4 trash cyberware.
5+ no effect. Trash after revieled.
Flavor - "Ohh sparks every where"
Picture - Massive lightning bolts smashing into a group of runners with
"sparks" flying off of the runners.

Reasoning - Just something to hurt runners some more by taking away some
fun things. Nothing special.

Name - Lone Star Road Block
Type - Outdoor/personel challenge.
Sleaze - social-2, street - 3
Threat - 6/9 (A4)
Text - If no viehicle is present the shadowrun ends after combat. Trash
after revieled.
Picture - A large armored ATV blocking a long road with a squad of
LoneStar troops with dogs around it with helicopters in the background.
Flavor - "There is a TANK in the middle of the road!, you drive through
it"

Reasoning - It is assumed that if your traveling to a shadowrun that you
might need a viehicle to get there. A road block can be serious stuff
(they are in my campaigns anyway :) Again you must fight the challenge
regardless if you are sent home or not, but the challenge doesn't stay
around the next time. (its that attempt at equalizing things.)

Comments and suggestions welcome :)

What I didn't understand is, if a Running team has weapons, can they pull
out before forfeiting them, or do they forfeit them and then the run is
over? I personally like the idea behind this card.

Potential uses for the card: A Shadowrunning team, armed to the gills goes
on a run against (whatever objective.) they hit Customs Check, and lose
ALL of their weapons, barring cyberware. HOWEVER, before they hit it, they
meet Mr. All Or Nothing. The next Challenge they face is (oops) Guardian
Dracoform.

Now, is it also safe to assume that this does not trigger the alarm? It
seems that in order to give people hope against this one, C.C. outta not
set off the alarm.

Jeez. I'm hoping this one is Unique ;-) I like it because it guarantees a
team of either taking some damage or losing some runners. Great for Bully
decks (oh, wait...that's NOT so good for me....) The Sleaze requirement
will definitely be hard to meet with the average Runners. Athletics seems
to be a pretty hard one to find for the most part (alot like Demolitions...)

Ahhhh...one for those Cyberware enhanced Runners. Again, alot like Customs
Check, a good way to strip down Runners who almost rate god status. Not
The God, mind you, but a minor god....

Probably more effective against Big Bully Decks like Skwaaaaaark based
decks that might take advantage of Dermal Plating and Wired Reflexes....

All in all, pretty good card ideas. I wouldn't mind putting one or two
into my deck...

Cheers,

J

The intent was a choice, go in and have all weapon gear trashed and be
able to continue on the run, or pull out with all the gear, spend the
next turn turning all your runners to transfer gear to another runner
who will not be going. Then next turn go running and just walk through
C.C. trashing it. Either way you do not have weapons or armor to go
shadowrunning with. One method just takes longer than the other :)

Custom check was never intended to set off alarm. Neither was
electrical storm.

Then these are cards that I would DEFINITELY like to put into my hand to
play. If anything, the inconvenience of it all can really mess with
opponents' teams....

Like I said, good cards!

Here's my "me to", but not nearly so nasty

Name- Astral Background Count
Type- Awakened challenge
Sleaze- none
Threat- None
Text- All present runners reduce "sorcery" and "conjuring" skills by
one
for remainder of the run. All spirits, spells, and awakened challenges
deal 1 less damage than normal. Can not be sleazed, does not trigger
alarm.
Picture - a mage confused by "astral garbage" floating around

Reasoning; Background count makes using any magic harder and reduces its
effect. It can be artificially created.

Welcome the the create-a-card zone me to :) This is a cool challenge. I
like the effect and its not too overpowering (as some of mine tend of
start out as :) ... Good Job :)
