Subject: Posting Decks - The Ancients
Date: Sun, 20 Sep 1998 12:40:06 -0500
Deck size: 45/6

Runners: (13)

Viper x3
Redline x4
Loki x2
Glitz x4

Viper and Redline because they are the only 2
Elven gangers. Redline is especially nice in that
he gets his first bike for free. Loki for his Troll
Killing ability and Glitz for fame.

Gear: (12)

Yahama Rapier x2
Harley Scorpion x4
Beretta x3
Bulldog Van x3

The Bikes are in there for the Ancients, the
Beretta for extra attack and body and the BDV
to give armor to all runners in my safehouse to
protect against either mine or someone else's
Riots.

Special: (5)

Ancients x3
Riots x2

My runners would be protected from Riots by either
the Armor bonus given by The Ancients or by the
Bulldog Van.

Locations: (1)

Tir Tairngire

To help pay for the elves or make them just a bit
meaner.

Challenges: (14)

Fusion Gate
Sabatoged Controls
Booby Trap
Heavy Sentry Gun
Steppin' Wulf Ambush
Double Jeopardy
Lone Star Patrol x2
Mine Field x2
Ambushed En Route x4

The challenges were selected so that none were Indoor
and most did enough damage to where teams would
either pull out or get killed. If a team did pull out, then I
would use Riots to finish runners off or Loki to kill a Troll.
Even if they didn't, the team would be hurting pretty badly,
enough for the Riots to do the job.

Objectives: (6)

Eco-War x4
Critter Hunt x2

No Indoor challenges so I can use my bikes against
all opponents challenges. Also turns annoying
challenges like Maglocks into blufs.

Sideboard:

Here are some cards that I put into my deck for
larger games. I try to keep my base deck (the
above) very small so I can draw what I need when
I need it. Since there are only 2 Elven gangers,
I don't want to load up my deck with alot of other
runners and quite possibly not draw even one of
Redline or Viper.

Runners: (2)

Hawkwind x2

Gear: (2)

Yamaha Rapier
Beretta

Contacts: (1)

Shadey Manager

Locations: (1)

Tir Tairngire

Specials: (7)

Ancients
Moonlighting x3
Riots
LotI x2

Challenges: (2)

Booby Trap
Yakuza Hit Squad

The above is pretty self explanatory, especially
after reading my reasoning for the cards above.

This deck has done quite well for me. Because
it is small, it is really fast. Even if a few of my
Runners die the first time the deck is cycled through,
by the time I get to the second cycle of the deck,
the only thing in my trash pile are the runners that
were trashed and their gear and challenges. And
just about all the times I've reshuffled, there were only
about 15-20 cards in the trash pile.

The rulebook states that your deck must contain at least 60 cards + 6
objectives.

You are right. I guess I was thinking about the V:tes minimum
when I built the deck.
