What's everybody opinion on the Prime Runner cards? I tried using
Dodger and Dirk Montgomery last night and found them to be kind of
useless compared to their cost.

I had a decent decker in play already so I never deployed Dodger. I
didn't want to pay the cost each turn. I used Dirk but I got tired of
paying for him. When I drew him I only had one contact left in my deck
so his skill to get contacts was not all that impressive. Then after I
used his skill to get the last contact he was useless. Not real big in
the skills department and a nuyen sink.

I think I may leave these two out of my deck. Are there others that are
awesome to use? Am I using them wrong?

Probably... I also have Dodger and don;t use him. There are cheaper
deckers out there, and my deck isn;t based around deckers...

Dirk, however, I wouldn;t use unless you put in a lot of contacts... If
you're only using a couple, you've wasted his special, especially if you
don;t get him out early... What are his stats and skills?

I have 2 that I love... Jack Skater is great. A 4/6 with a couple skills,
plus an ungodly Leadership (equal to the number of runners with him:)).

I also use Wheeler a lot. When he's put in play, you get to give him a
Vehicle from your deck for free... I love slapping a Bulldog on him...;]

From what I have seen, from the Primes that I have, they sometimes arent
worth using, or even having in your deck. The Profezzor is ok, but nothing
more than a sammie with melee 2 and the ability for 2 nuyen to give him tech
one.... Kinda disapointing.

Hello. From the moment I got the list of all the cards in the set and lay
my eyes on the name Dodger, I thought to myself, "This is so cool, they
included the characters from the stories." To be honest, I have only read
the original Secrets of Power trilogy. I was sorta dissapointed not to
find Sam Verner as one of the Prime runners, but I thought to myself,
there'll be more sets.

Now, my question: I sorta figured that all the Prime runners were
characters from either novels or stories, and this thread about Dirk
Montgomery confirmed it somewhat. Are all the Prime runners characters
from novels? If so, who and from where? And then, who's missing? (just to
have an idea of what to expect more or less)

Later.

Yes, I know I have been laying low for a few months here. And I know
it's been a long time since I posted an answer to a real question, but I
thought I would dedicate a little time to the list. :)

As far as I can tell, not all the Prime Runners are from the novels. I
think the main criteria for deciding PR's is there "importance" or
"popularity" in the Shadowrun game. For example, Hatchetman has been in
a whole bunch of sourcebooks and big time in Cybertechnology (he gets
"cyborged" in it in 2057), but I don't think he appears in any novels.
So I guess they picked runners who showed up a lot in any and all of the
Shadowrun products.

Here's a rundown of Prime Runners and where I can trace them from....
(I haven't read a few of the early novels, Never Trust and Elf in
particular, so bear that in mind. There may be more, but I think all the
ones I listed are accurate.)

Da Profezzur: ??? (Somebody help me out here.)
Dirk Montgomery: 2XS and House of the Sun
Dodger: Secrets of Power Trilogy
Fastjack: Night's Pawn and I think a few early ones
Ghost Who Walks: Secrets of Power Trilogy
Jack Skater: Preying for Keeps
Kham: Secrets of Power Trilogy and Never Trust and Elf
Lord Torgo: Shadowrun Companion Sourcebook (not a novel I know)
Ravage: Fade to Black
Sally Tsung: Secrets of Power Trilogy
Scatter: Never Trust an Elf (???), (I heard she was related to Kham)
Wheeler: ???
Hatchetman 2057: A whole bunch of sourcebooks, but definitely
Cybertechnology, which describes his descent into "cyborgness"

Hope this helps. I hope to post a little more frequently in the future
here.

Next post: who's missing....

I know that Da Profezzur appeared in the Changling book...

I think Wheeler shows up in the Into the Shadows and in Preying for
Keeps.

Just my glorious two cents.

As to who's missing....

Here is a list of some characters that made some prominent appearances
that I could "qualify" for cards.

Runners:
Maria Mercurial, Rocker (They made a whole adventure for her.)
Kyle Teller, Mage (Burning Bright and Bug City sourcebook)
Michael Sutherland, Decker (Black Madonna and Nosferatu (?)
Rick Larson, Detective (Lone Wolf)
Ryan Mercury (Dragonheart Saga) (had to mention this one)

Challenges (Bad Guys):
Kyle Morgan and his dragon Perianwyr (Mecurial and Killing Glance)
Bloodwing (Bottled Demon, and one other)

Not sure where to put:
Captain Chaos (not sure if contact or runner)
and
Harlequin (or Quentin Harlech)
Ehran the Scribe
(Actually, I just would like to use Torgo to kill the two of them. :) )

Just the ones I came up with off the top of my head.

Macabre comes from the personal RPG game that Mike is in. I'm told (but
am not certain) that Domino and Cherry Bomb (the Dwarf twins) are also
from a private game.

And Tony Glinka added:

Don't forget Sam Verner (Twist), who Mike's talked about as a strong
possibility. Rikki Ratboy, the guinea pig for many magic examples,
would be cool. Blackwing might make the cut, although he's always been
an NPC (but then again - so are all the characters in the novels). And
I think Rick Davitt and Zeb Wanderly (Deadeye) would make a great
Detective duo, even if they're both dead.

OK, there's Blackwing, under a different alias :) The "other" is Dragon
Hunt.

I'll add:
Objectives:
DNA/DOA

Gear:
Bottled Demon

I've done poser cards for both of these, which I'll post tonight.

Gah... Can't think of the name... It was a novel though and he was the
main character. A smart Troll, hence the name. But he doesn't really use
that name for himself that often.

Scatter was never mentioned as Khams grandmother but she was the Shaman who
did some research on the "Crystal" that they stole and then became "very
attached" to it.

Halrey is already included to a degree as an Objective.

Doubt it. They'd probably have card text saying they were immune. Or
they'd have their race listed as Immortal or Elder per the Worlds
Without End novel.

Pg 30 SRTCG Rule book. Defination of prime runners.

Prime runners are runners who have achieved legendary status in the sprawl.
<blah, blah, blah> Only one of each prime runner can be in play at the same
time.<blah, blah,blah>

Nowhere does it say you can't have more than 1 in your deck. You just can't
have more than one in play. You're confusing prime runner with unique. eg
you cannot hav more than 1 hacetman2057 in your deck.
