Subject: Question about Friend of a Friend
Date: Thu, 4 Feb 1999 13:44:52 -0800
The text of Friend of a Friend is, "Play on target Contact. Treat the owner
of Friend of a Friend as the owner of target Contact until the end of the
turn."

My question is on the definition of a turn with respect to Friend of a
Friend. Most cards seem to define a turn as a player turn, i.e. the turn
is complete at the end of the current player's end phase. However, there
are other cards, Cover Up for example, which define a turn as a full round
of player turns. Which of these definitions applies to FoaF?

Depending on the definition of a turn, it seems that Friend of a Friend can
be used in a couple of nasty ways. First, FoaF could be used to deny
another player the use of his contact during his turn, since you would be
the owner of the contact during your opponent's next player turn. Even
more insidious would be playing FoaF on your opponent's Shady Manager,
since you, not your opponent, would be getting the nuyen during the target
player's next player turn.

Since it's a Stinger, you can play it whenever.....

Here is yet another example of why FASA really needs to put out second
run. Clarification of simple rules and timing. Now this is just my
take on this but here it is anyway.

Since FOAF is a stinger I would say that it is only in effect until the
end of whomevers turn it is played on. You could play it on your
oponents turn to gain access to his bounty hunter after he has pulled
out and then try to off some of his guys. Or you could play it on your
turn to gain the use of his Mr. Black. for the duration of your turn.
Other specials like cover-up that target cards, that also have a "Phase"
(Ie. your objective phase) that effects them tend to work until that
particular phase shows up again (that would effect the card in
question). But I agree with you, some clear cut definitions might be
helpful.
