Here's a poser that came up in a game Saturday night. I'm sending this
to the lsit for comment and Jim/Skuzzy for what they say is the answer.

Q. A player buys Hardened Armor (partial) at the Black Market discount
and gives it to Sisko. He then rolls the d6 per Black Market and comes
up with a 5, meaning Sisko is getting arrested. Now Sisko's special
reads "turn Sisko to prevent target Runner from being arrested." In
such an instance, can said player turn Sisko to prevent himself from
being arrested?

Doesn't the Black Market Location say:

"...roll D6 for each piece of discounted gear is swapped between
runners.."

So, if it's swapping Sisko is already turned, so no deal...Sisko goes to
jail
If you are deploying at a discount it is not swapping, so no roll.

Am I right?

I don't have the actual card here at work with me, but going from the
spoiler text off Phil's page:

"Any player may deploy Gear cards at a "discount" of -2¥ (minimum cost
of 1¥). Roll D6 for each piece of discounted Gear is swapped between
Runners. On 5+, Runner holding of trading discounted Gear is arrested
(return Runner to owner's hand and trash any Gear he is holding).
Mafia Runners are arrested only on 6+."

It does appear the d6 roll is only made when gear is traded. Sisko
would be turned at that point, so you're right and the point is moot.

I was somehow under the impression the d6 roll was made when the gear
was deployed as well. At this time Sisko would be unturned, thus my
question. Doesn't matter now.

The way I read this, D6 is rolled when the runner receives the gear and D6
is rolled when the gear is traded.

That's what I thought.

If that is the actual wording of the card then my initial question is
still valid. Sisko has to be unturned in order to receive the gear. If
a d6 comes up 5 when he gets the armor, he is then arrested. Could he
turn to prevent his own arrest?

That's what I thought.

IMHO, yes, he could prevent his own arrest when buying black market gear,
but not when swapping black market gear (because he is already turned).

My question is, when swapping black market gear, which runner(s) might be
arrested, the one the gear comes from, the one the gear goes to, or both?
If both, do you roll D6 for each runner or once for both?

Only roll for the Runner who had the Gear first, since by card text only
one Runner must roll, and he´s the one giving it away. ---Felix
