Here's a few examples of questions that have come into play jist
to get an idea of how exchanging equipment works.

Let's say I've got Redline and Viper in play (Viper has firearms, Redline
does not). Viper is sporting an Ingram Valiant (which requires Fireams,
and the pict. is of the Ingram Smartgun BTW). I have recently equipped
Viper's LMG with a Laser Scope (which adds +1 Firearms to user).

According to the rules, you may switch any amount of equipment b/t two
runners after tapping them both and announcing that you wish to do so.

Can Viper give Redline BOTH in the same exchange? Is the reasoning that
you could do so b/c a) the exchange of equipment happens simultaneously,
or b) the laser scope is an accessory played on the weapon, and therefore
comes with it? To add to the confusion, here's another thought:

If Viper also had another ranged weapon, could he give the Ingram to
Redline with the laser scope, and then take back the laser scope to put
on his other weapon? Since the card "Ingram Valiant" says to play on
a Runner with Firearms, does that mean only when initially played, or
also in the exchange of equipment?

Well, I still don't get it really, but any ideas or comments are
encouraged.

First from the FAQ:
Can you exchange any amount of gear between Runners?
When two Runners turn to exchange gear, they may exchange any amount
of
gear. Remember that a Runner may not own gear that he does not have
the
skills to use.

Next MHO:
I would say that Viper could only give Redline the Ingram if the laser
scope came with it. Viper could not take back the laser scope. When
you trade equipment that piece of equipment can only go one way.
Either to Redline or from Redline. I would also think that on the
next turn you wanted to give the laser scope back to Viper and not the
Ingram. I think that the Ingram would be trashed because Redline can
not use the Ingram. Maybe the Ingram would stay on Redline but
Redline could not use it. I perfer that trash idea. Anyone else have
an opinion. (like I have to ask)

I'd agree with you on having to trash the Ingram if the Laser Scope
was removed. You couldn't have played the Ingram directly on Redline
w/o the Laser Scope, so I can't see he/she would be allowed to keep it
without one.
